Help! MY 8-Track was struck by Lightning!

What's wrong with the 8track? we have a collection of several hundred...... and players, but those are in case ours break.

Frank

I can remember the freeway guard rails flowing with 8trak tape blowing in the wind. wow i just had a flashback

Theres a REASON why you found those 8 track tapes around trees bushes poles and stuff like that.

they got eaten by the damn player!

8 tracks were horrible. they sounded bad and didn't get better with age. the cool factor stopped back in the 70's. Along with the hair! I personally think people liked them due to the fact they Only went in 1 way!

Cassette tapes had 2 sides! too confusing!

Beta at least had something going for it. (btw beta never really died it got incorporated into VHS!)

I think I got one one. I'll have to see if its still up in the attic at my moms house. I'll let you know in a few days. If its there you can have it for the price of shipping.

Kevin

Thanks!

I have Black Sabbath "We Sold Our Souls for Rock N Roll" that still works.
It's a great conversation piece...........when friends come over ....It's...."Damn..........I remember that!"

Check your local pawn shops. I found one the other day in a pawn shop.

But seriously, you really may want to consider upgrading. None of my data or music is on tapes anymore. A CD-RW is the only CD that I use for the Ranger's music (MP3 player radio). Everything else is in MP3, WMA, or AAC format for digital music.

8 Tracks were the way God meant for music to be played in a car!

Seriously, I can play virtually any format on my home stereo system:
Reel to Reel
Vinyl
8 Tracks (record and play)
Cassettes
CDs

I even have a 3 cartridge 8 Track changer and an old Motorola underdash unit if I ever get an old car I want to "restore" properly.

If it's music and you enjoy it the format is unimportant.:icon_hornsup::yahoo::headbang:

I have an 8-Track tape deck and a bunch of tapes I would like to get rid of. As far as I know the tape deck works. It was just fine when I quit using it.

my rangers got a cassette and cd player in it. i only got one tape(nirvana bleach) lol but at least i can keep the tape deck warmed up ...i think it would look silly with an 8 track in it tho.:icon_confused:

i have an 8-track player but i'm not sure if it works. it was my grandparents and it has a record player, speakers, radio and 8 track in this big wooden case. i know the radio, speakers and record player work, so i'd assume the 8 track does too. oh it's also got a cassette player that plugs into the 8-track player, it's really high tech....lol.
i just need to install a cd player and an AV-in so i can plug up the ipod.

My dad has a couple, but I'm not sure any of them work. I also doubt he'd part with them if they do. They are either in/for his Ventura.

when cassettes came out we 8-track owners said ... aghh those will never catch on..lol:icon_rofl:

Yeah. Now we got music as ones and zeros stored on silicon memory chips. Tens of thousands of songs on a device about the size of a pack of playing cards.
