Quick question bout a BW1354

Is the front output shaft on an electric BW1354 supposed to be able to slide in and out about 3 inches and slide back in? if it isnt, im fawked

I knew i shouldnt have hammered that hard...i was hammering on it to get the part of the cv joint on the front driveshaft.. do i even dare take it apart and see what is broken? probably just a retaining clip...

Update! i ripped the t-case apart and it turned out it was a clip that was holding the shaft in slid up the shaft therefore allowing the shaft to slide. Another question folks, what type of goop should i seal the t-case pieces together with, RTV black? and do i need to threadlock the bolts?

get some rtv the stronger stuff i dont remember what color that is off the top of my head will seal it good or you can buy the seal right from the auto parts store

dont buy the seal, they aren't worth the hassle or money! I ain't ever had a seal actually do its job yet. don't see to every seal up right

Just get some gray RTV to seal the two halves together.

Yep, just put some grey RTV on there.

You don't need to threadlock the bolts. Just torque them to spec.

Would there be anything wrong with using black RTV? i got alot of it...Oh yea, and the gasket that goes in between the tranny adapter plate and the t-case, can i use RTV to make a gasket, or am i going to have to have my truck out of commission for longer... is there anybody besides ford that would carry that gasket?

just use grey rtv on the tcase to transmission seal. you dont need the fiber one from ford. just dont skimp on the rtv use enough to completely coat both sides then torque the 5 or 6 bolts(lost count) to spec

Sweet! will do... its 5 bolts, and i never skimp on my rtv! lol

I believe you have the wrong culprit...it was the hammer attached to your hand that made the retaining ring fail
