What would be the min. space between the electric fan and water pump?

John

well depending on how far back your engine is mounted, and if if you tucked your radiator under the core support, most v8 rangers range from 2-5 inches. if your having space issues between the radiator and the engine, you could mount dual pusher fans in the openings in front of the radiator.

Radiator is tucked, 2.5" body lift, maybe 1" between firewall and engine running 4spd auto ,2.9 driveshaft +3rd member ,floor/ fire wall seam hamered flat, 92 Explorer hd radiator. Motor and trans. from 87 crown vick. Have 3.75" between radiator and water pump.

You may have to off set your E-fan motor, but I think you have enough room.
I had a 17" Hayden that was about 3.5" thick.

Got about 1/4" now . Knot sure if thats enough.

id put a nice size pusher fan in front if you have room, i plan on doing this soon due to clearance problems

1/4" would prob. be enough.......you need to put the engine under a load (without running over anybody!!!) with the hood up to see how much the engine moves on the motor mounts.....I doubt that it will shift forward enough for the waterpump shaft to bump the E-fan.....

EDIT: copperhead.......I just woke up.......when did you "upgrade" your avatar?

I have about 2.5" or less from the water pump pulley to the rad.

I used two 10" fans, on opposite corners of the stock 4.0 Rad, which is tucked flat up against the core support, under the top of the support.

(the fans are 2.5" at the motor, supposed to be 1550CFM each, running on a temp controlled switch)

From the build:

i got about 1.5" between the rad and pump. ik the pulley on the pump looks horibble and im not running it. its just there for illistrative purposes.

Not enough room.
Mine was about the same as Teddyz till I put the mustang rad. and fan in.
Had to do a but load of trimming on the core support.

I got the idea for the duel 10" fans after seeing teddyzee's build. I have the same fans and temp control switch. No over heating issues yet. (only about 70 miles on the truck)
