Anyone seeing an increase in car insurance rates?

I just got my new premium. It went up $9.00 a month. It went up 6-months ago when I renewed as well. Last time they (Progressive) said it was a cross the board rate increase for everyone. Anyone else in Ohio seeing their premiums go up for no reason?

No change on my driving history. No changes to my insurance. My truck is going down in value. My insurance is going up. WTH?

Over here in cali insurance rates are supposed to go up 2% thanks to obama he thinks its gunna help get us out of debt that and they've increased the sales tax here as well, instead of the 8.25% its gunna go up to 10.00% so were getting ripped nasty

I Have Progressive and my rate just went down 10$ a month starting in april. Dont know why though, but not goint to complain. But im not in Ohio so im not much help.

Mine just went up $332 a year since I took my ex off my policy

I am gonna tell them to get bent if they can't take it back down to what it was. Unitrin (what I have now) is $1274 a year and the quotes I got from Geico and Progressive for the same coverage were $788 and $642 respectively.

Sales tax here in TN is already 9.75%... My insurance just went down by $20 a month, I turned 21... So, my dad decided to put me on his policy and pay it now It went down another $10 on his policy... My part of his insurance payment is only $47 a month now... No tickets, no at fault accidents...

I've noticed it too on my Progressive motorcycle coverage. I talked to a rep and she said it was do to an increase of motorcycle coverage accidents within my area. Its only a few dollars, I would like it to go down with my clean driving record. I guess too many people got in accidents from the years prior, that it now trickles to the people who didn't get into one. And this one is a bummer, Motorcycle Saftey Foundition Course only saved me $4 off. Come on, its a saftey class where you are proven to have the needed skills to ride.

My Ranger insurance with USAA has dropped like a stone. Either, 1. my age, or 2. The value on my Ranger dropped because of hailstone dents on it. I'll find out if it dropped any more sometime around June/July when the bill is do.

Progressive and it went up $250 for 6 months for liability on 2 cars. this was due to a fee increase in Michigan.

mine has been the same fore ever. call around, question them. and i am calling the increase in bike accidents in your area BULLSHIT. they pool from everyone. with my insurance it is decided by commute, smoker or not, vehicle, and accidents (none) and age (45). 10 years ago i totaled a 16000 car, my insurance went up 2.00 a month. i have farmers and would never change.

I just finalized switching from Allstate to Hartford yesterday. This is through AARP since I'm retired. My rate for two vehicles dropped from $895.00 to $283.00 with slightly better coverage.

They can give this low rate because they base the premium mainly on how many accidents you were at least 60% responsible for and how many serious moving violations you incur. Each major accident/violation results in a 20% increase in premium.

I'm not sure if Hartford offers this type of coverage for younger drivers, but it may be worth looking into.

Mines gone up as well, from what I hear just about every state has allowed insurance companys to raise the premiums. Both my house and car insurance has gone up about 10%.

my insurance rates have not gone up. $800 a year, full coverage, $50 deductable.

havent heard anything yet, I pay $180 a month for full coverage on the f350 and the caliber, and liability on the ranger and the stang.

Jim,

Premium rates are going up everywhere for three reasons:

1. There are fewer insureds (due to bad economy) in the pools and the companies are trying to make up the premium loss.

2. The stock market decline and subprime mortgage crisis destroyed much of the policy-holder surplus for many companies. Raising the rates gives the companies much-needed short term liquidity.

3. The Obama administration has enacted and proposed many regulations and taxes that hurt insurance companies. They are forced to pass these costs along to their policy holders (you).

And a warning: Your homeowners insurance will be going up substantially in the next year.

i've got allstate, and my premiums went down just recently. i think it was only about $5 a month, but ill take it. i do know somebody that just left allstate though because he said his car insurance nearly doubled. he found a different company that had rates comparable to his previous rates with allstate. btw, i live in nw ohio.
