so i was driving down the road today and a car went to turn so i shifted from 4th to third going around 38 MPH and i gave it alot of throttle i didn't pop the clutch and all of the sudden my Soda Can driveshaft snapped and the axle actually detached itself from the output shaft on the tranny, and when i looked inside the axle it was this really thin aluminum with a cardboard tube inside it .. Seriously WTF?????
anyway pics will be up shortly.

didnt pop the clutch eh? kinda hard to think that way. There are vehicles running way more power that wont break one. shock breaks stuff quick

yea, it might have been from my exhaust scraping it a few months back when a clamp broke on it,

it sheared it pretty bad, so i dont think my extended warranty will cover it so i am returning the truck to stock form after its fixed

You mean Driveshaft, and yeah, thats bad luck man. Best of luck to ya gettin it fixed, nothin like ruining your day!!!
Beef

At least you don't have a big puddle of gas on the ground.

thats a thin ass driveshaft, mines 30mm solid core on my 93 where the swing bearing is, a friend of mine had one like mine sawed in half so he could build a bumper for his 4wheeler, it was 3/8 thick wall. that to me from that picture looks like 1/4 inch or less, thats not right.

I did that too... There are two driveshafts. One for the 2.3L & 3.0L then one for the 4.0L. I broke mine by catching pavement after beating around on ice. I didn't realize that a broomhandle could supply more torsional strength than the driveshaft, so I upgraded to the 4.0L shaft. Its a good 2.5-3 lbs heavier than the old one, so I know its thicker.

Yeah, definately looks like its due to your exhaust clamp rubbing on it. Made it significantly weaker when u let it rub for that long.

yea it rubbed for longer than it should have and i didnt hear it cause the music was up too loud, just saw sparks flyin out the back then i yanked the(exhaust) pipe off, then had it welded on, after that happend i think the exhaust is coming off and getting re tweaked, mean while i will run the stock one

When a Japaneese hears a noise coming from his car... he pulls over connects his laptop and fixes it electronically to a hi performance hybrid.
When a German man hears a noise coming from his car... he pulls over installs a turbo and makes it go faster.
When a red neck (no offense intended) hears a noise coming from his car... he raises the radio's volume...
:D
