Instrument Panel LEDs

yes that video is with blue led's in a stock cluster. All we did is remove teh cluster and switch the bulbs from white to the blue led's ones and reinstall.

:no2:

i don't want to screw around with my cluster and pull the needles off and the gage face, cos the newer models suck for that, all mechanical and having to spin them whatnot, seems a little risky for me

DON'T PULL THE NEEDLES!

i can't get my needles to re-calibrate after pulling them..so i need a new cluster :buttkick:

I am thinkin about takin the tint off of the back of my cluster. but I have to pull the needles and I'm worried that they wont go back on right. anyone have a tip who has successfully done this? there has to be a way to get it back to normal

I just bought the blue LED's of of ebay!! I go on shift for the next two days so hopefully they will be here when I get home so I can get to wrok! I just have one question for you. Did you also replace the buld behind your head light switch/Dimmer switch? From reading all the replys Thats the only bulb not mentioned. Thanks for getting me into this mod!! Can't wait until i do mine :yahoo:

no i didn't my 93 does not have a bulb back there as far as i can remember.

rusty

So I was looking at my cluster and I've got one more question. There are three bolts on the top of the cluster. Do I just need to remove those three bolts and the cluster slides out or is it mre complicated than that? Thanks for the help!

Frickin sick....I'm going to order the blue ones now thanks..awsome right up btw :P

nope..there should be something in this forum about removing the dash..its quite simple..

remove the three screws above your HVAC (temp controls), and pull out the black (or whatever colour it may be) trim piece surrounding your radio. Next, disconnect the radio and any other wiring associated with the trim piece. Then, along the bottom of your driver side dash there are two screws in the bottom of the plastic panel near where your hood and park brake handle release are. Remove them. Also, remove the screws holding in your hood release. Remove the trim piece; set aside. There will now be a metal "kick plate"; there are approx. 7 screws holding this in; just loosen them off. once that is done, there are two-three more screws in the bottom of the trim piece that you will see once the "kick panel" is loosened. Remove the screws. This is where you have to remove those three screws above the instrument cluster. Pull on that trim piece (it has your light controls in it) and move off to the side. Finally, there are four screws holding your cluster in; remove them. Remove harnesses for easier access to the light bulbs. Reverse procedure for installation. :icon_cheers:

Thanks that helps a lot! I knew there must be more to it. The dang lights still aren't here and I go back on shift in the morning so I guess it'll have to wait a few more days......

lol i drove around with my whole dash apart cuz i was waiting on lights as well..and when i needed to do my heater core (PRAY you never have to do this..its a terrible job); got 'er done after a few beers though haha
