Decided I finally want to put my 12 in my truck. Started building a box tonight, didn't get too far though, just cut most of the peices and started puttin' it together. Going to finish it tomorrow.

Here's the start:
Buildin' a Box

Has the top on it now, puttin the front on tomorrow a long with the sides, cut the hole and caulk the bitch like there's no tomorrow. Pretty simple set up, just over a cubic foot inside.

My Alpine 12". It was free basically, so I'll use it:

Probably would have been done it by now, but I'm doing it at my buddies place, and I came back to my place to hang with a couple buddies, so I'll finish it tomorrow. Don't have an amp yet, gunna order one next week, had to pay rent this week :annoyed:....Gotta live right? I'm going to borrow my buddy's amp since he has like 4 of them to see how she sounds.

I'll update tomorrow when it's finished, in the truck and hooked up.....

looks odd. looks like a staircase. im trying to envision where you are mounting this and if its a contour fit for where it will be going. cant wait to see the finished results.

Yeah, I know it's not much right now, but when I finish it it'll make sence.

Hope this helps you out a little. Like I said it is a very simple set up.

there we go. makes sense now. why the step down? will it fit more snugly somewhere?

There's a step type thing in the cab of the truck. I have an extended cab, and it is going in the middle of the back seat area. You'll see when I finish.:icon_thumby: Once I get the finished pic up you'll be like "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I get iiiiiiit." haha

lol i know what your talking about :icon_rofl:

i have an ex cab too it makes it easer

How are you cutting out your circle? Jig saw or Router with a circle Jig.

Also are you going to flush mount the speaker? I think a flush mount would look awesome with that style speaker.

Good Work so far - keep it going . . .

Jig saw. I don't think he has a circle attachment for his router, could be wrong though. As far as flush mouting, probly not, I just want to git 'er dun. I'm sure it would look cool too, but I dont think I have enough room to do that as what you see above is 13.5" wide, so there isnt much to work with.

this is what i do when cutting holes with a jigsaw. first find the exact middle. now put a screw there. now get a piece of string that half of the cutout diamter. then attach a screw or nail on end. now scratch the outline of the cutout. make a few passes so theres a nice groove. the jigsaw should follow that groove nicely.

Another way of doing it could be just using a drop piece from your cuts, something like 1-2 inches wide by 6-10 inches long. Run a screw thru it and messure from the tip to half the diameter of the sub and drill another hole that is just big enuff for a pencil to fit thru. Then mark on the box where you want the sub centered run the screw in enough to hold it in place and then just run your pencil around. The drop piece will hold the pencil drawing a perfect circle to follow with a jig saw.

does he have a 10.6 inch hole saw

does he have a 10.6 inch hole saw

He said it's on order.

:D

Edit: It's all hooked up, sounds pretty decent. Not as sharp as my 10's were, but it'll do for the time being. The amp is my friends, just ordered mine on ebay about 10 minutes ago.

Here it is....don't mind the wiring mess, its just a temp set up:

Probably not going to carpet it, and I can pull the cover over it too.

Nice, looks good. It probably sounds better then mine, it's not sealed worth crap. But it's only temporary anyway.

Depending on the size of your amp, you could think about putting it in the box (if ya wanna). When I put mine in, I couldn't think of a good spot for it, but my sub is like 10" deep so I put it along the front side of the box. It's a tight fit, but it looks clean.

in the box? you wouldnt want to do that. the amp needs to breath. especially if its in a sealed box.

Oh, right I knew that. Ok, don't put in the box.

Its not sealed... And the back side of the box is open to the pocket where the driver's side jump seat was. Im changing my set-up soon and I'll get a sealed box and mount it somewhere hidden.
