Lifting my 97

now i kno what happens when a 4.0 takes on water....yikes hopefully it will be fixed soon

The motor or the core support? The motor hydrolocked and the core support was almost completely rotted around the front body mounts. Also, one of the radiator supports was no longer "supporting"............

Tim! UGGH! How's it comming? I've discovered my radiator support is pretty well shot too. other than that things are moving along well, if slowly. Spring is comming!:yahoo:

Ah....the old boat you were talking about....you'll have hydroboost on that Ranger in no time.:icon_thumby:

Locked in a JY:icon_rofl: Guy leave for lunch?

So....that's how you're correcting caster....hmmm.

The truck sure looks lonely....:dunno: better get it back together to wheel it.

Nope, he left for the day........ I was about a half inch away from hopping in one of his loaders and using it to make a hole for my truck........

If I had the ranger, I would have just driven out though.:3gears:

Removed vacuum booster to begin comparing it to the hydroboost unit and to see what will need to be done to make it work.

The mounting face to push rod tip distance is critical for getting the pedal to be where it needs to be. The hydroboost unit is about a half inch longer than the vacuume booster.
n703930719_5380257_5784.jpg

Another critical distance is the length of the push rod that comes out of the booster and goes into the master cylinder.

n703930719_5380450_7397.jpg

The push rod on the vacuume booster is adjustable.

n703930719_5380453_7892.jpg

The bolt pattern is square.
n703930719_5380454_8127.jpg

And the bolt pattern on the hydroboost unit is not as you can see.
n703930719_5380456_8610.jpg

The bolt spacing for the master cylinder to booster connection is the same so it should bolt right together. All I will need to do is get it to bolt up to the firewall at the proper distance from the pedal.

Stay posted for more updates!

Is that a dual pattern HB? It looks to me that the other hole (up and to the left) would make that nearly square, or is your picture deceiving?

I fawking hate snow.

Looks like fun tho! I like how you are correcting the caster, how much lift will there be total?

Nice update....

I agree w/ Johnny....looks like that upper hole would be square with the others.

Yeah looks square...but the dimensions look different...

I dunno :icon_confused:

You are absolutely correct.

And then I fucked up when moving the stud to accurately verify that the other hole is indeed square to the rest of the bolt pattern.

My own damn fault for hammering on aluminum like that. :dunno:

I do have a solution to still use this HB unit. It involves spacing out from the firewall to correct the mounting face to pedal distance on the push rod and adapting the two different bolt patterns. I just need to do a little something else aswell now.

I will be at 6" like I was before. The truck will just be more driveable than it was before.

Here are some pics from where I left off tonight. The gussets on the radius arms will be cleaned up and trimmed but other than that, the radius arms are almost done. After that I will work on mounting the hydroboost unit into my truck. Then I will work on mounting the PS pump on the engine accessories. I also need to find a serpentine pulley for the saginaw pump.

porque hydroboost?

I am guessing that is "why hydroboost?"

I took german in HS so I was :icon_confused: for a moment and then google helped me :icon_idea:.

I just think it would be really cool to be able to lock up 35" tires on dry pavement with 1/4 ton brakes. Dont you?

Also, there is no such thing as too much braking power.

I also was noticing my brakes getting a little weaker each time i stepped up the tire size. This will take care of that little issue.

Here are some pics from tonight.
