im having such trouble with this sending unit and plus im thinkin bout flat beding the rang. that im about to remove my bed and roll without it for awhile..of course im leavin the bumper, plate lights, brake, reverse and turn signal lamps...anyone still think ill get pulled for that?

No, my grandpa always say's he'll "get around to" putting a new bed on his cab&chassis Dodge diesel, but its been twelve years. Of course, in montana you could probably get away with no cab on the truck either.

i would throw a set of cheap trailer fenders on it to keep the law off your tail andmount the lights to them, than you should be just fine

You probably aren't breaking any laws by removing a truck bed.

But be warned, you will become a "magnet" for being pulled over because you stand out.

I have had experience with this when it comes to my yellow Cobra and my Explorer.

The typical reason the cop gives you for being pulled over is loud exhaust. He'll have you start the truck and then tell you it sounds ok after all....the real point of the pull-over was to ensure you have a license, insurance, are not drunk, and no warrent out for you.

since you are a fellow ohioian i will comment on this. ohio requires mud flaps on vehicles without beds, or with flat beds. you must have turn signals, 1 brake light and 1 running light but most local municipalities require 2 running lights and 2 brake lights. the bumpers are obviously required. i hope jim corrects me if i am wrong but that is how i recall it being when i ran around without a bed. for the most part ohio allows anything that can move under its own power to drive down the road with little concern about safety........

scary thought lol:nono:

we dont have inspections, all we have is an emissions check in the northern counties surrounding cleveland and akron. you can get plates for ANY VEHICLE with a valid title in the other counties regardless of what it really is as long as it has the proper lighting and a vin tag. a buddy of mine was LEGALLY able to drive his "geo tracker" that was nothing but a firewall with a VIN tag and a tube frame that happened to have lights.......

Regardless of what the actual laws are, it pretty much all comes down to the individual cop and how boring their day is. Around here I've never been bothered for various things on my rig like the parking light that's out up front (the turn signal still works though), at times very obnoxious exhaust way above legal limit and lack of a front license plate which my friend was hassled for and he even had his in his windshield which I don't. I wouldn't worry about it personally.

put a mud flaps on the back. those along with your lights is all you need to be legal according to DOT.

yea, just dont cross over into PA. they have replaced the state troopers with SS officers from the third reich..........

Yeah you can drive around in a unsafe car but if you're in certain counties and you can't pass e-check you're S O L.

WRONG i paid the 300 bucks for new cats just to get my waiver! you my friend need to learn that ohio will let ANYTHING run down the road if you give them enough money or excuses.

I've lived here long enough to know that!
As long as you show some type of improvement they in most cases will pass you.I know when the state switched from the AIMS test to E-check they would really stick it to ya if you didn't pass.Live 2 counties over and you in hillbilly heaven;missingteeth; Not a care in the world.

believe me i a well aware. you obliviously have not been on offroadohio.com before..... i am friends with many of them but most of them have a odd resemblance to a member of the show sanford and sons...... or the dukes of hazzard, take your pick. you my friend are on the fringe of hillbilly heaven in aurora, 6 inch stacks on gas trucks and fuel pumps on diesel trucks turned up so high its amazing they dont have atleast one dead cyl. from a hole being melted through the top of the piston.

I had a friend in Germany that had his car impounded and recycled because of a rust hole.

But something you may not have considered--your frame is not very stiff. It relies on the body for that. I would not drive it much without a bed. A chassis-cab is a different vehicle than a pickup. Driving a pickup without a bed could work things loose because it isn't designed with stand alone rigidity.
