Abandoned / Pending RBV Projects

I just heard about the Bosch micro chainsaw. Blade looks to be about 3" long. Apparently has 50 teeth on it. Its been around about 10 years.

This sounds relatable...

#2 - my 94 Explorer sport SAS project, I am putting full width 9" and '76 Dana 44 axles in it. I think this has been parked since about 2021 or 2022. I wheeled it a little bit sometime around then and decided to SAS it. It's been in my shop since about this time last year and I'm slowly picking away at it. Waiting on parts right now.

#3, my old beater '88 Ranger, currently it's parked at our other property and my dad is using it to haul garbage or put garbage in or something. Don't know, don't really care. I quit driving it last spring when I bought my '94. It's not really a project per se as I could probably get in it at drive it where ever if I needed to or wanted to... I keep hoping to find another truck with a decent body that I can swap my drivetrain into, I have a lot of money into that but the body on this truck is just about shot. It looks way better in pictures than it actually is.

Did you use the STX brackets on the Explorer?

I dig the wheels on #3.

I feel you, I'm the same way on the '86.

Do I want to salvage all the parts I can and scrap the rest, or do I want to throw it back together as something to beat on?

If I do the former it could donate the repair sheetmetal I need for the 85, probably build the bed into a trailer. Who knows on the rest, I'm sure I could find a use or someone that needs part of it.

If I do the latter I could probably salvage the wiring harness from the totaled 84 (could probably get the sheetmetal for the 85 from it too), drop the cab back on. Once I decide what engine it use it could probably be put back into service pretty quick. Would I make it trash truck, a "drift" (or auto-X) truck, or go the other direction and SAS it for offroad play.

Honestly since I've already got 4 trucks to maintain already, it's probably best if I did the first.
Ive thought about doing that. But the fact its not really hurting anything where its at and i got so much other shit laying around i dont really have storage space to keep the stuff id wanna keep.

Just a leave well enough alone type situation

Is it abandoned, or pending waiting for it to get rusty enough?
looks like it is returning to Mother Earth from where it came from...

What was the purpose?

Clearing brush, as Scott said... I can think of 100 better ways to do that than with a giant 30 pound chainsaw. I just think they look cool and very unique.

Yep. All the STX stuff went on my 4 door Explorer. I got exactly 1.5" of lift + another 1/2-3/4" from some spacers. Going to try some taller lift springs in the future, I would like to clear 31's.

Those wheels are just stock mid 90's Mazda B series wheels but they look great on 1st gen trucks!

The purpose of the bow saws is brush, aparently they're great for clearing scotch broom and such...

I've just used a regular chainsaw for that. Probably not the best practice but it is what I had and there was a lot of thick brush at the sportsman's club that needed clearing. the saw has a 20" bar. So it made fairly quick work of the job.

The Bronco II has a 94" wheelbase, too. I think that I've seen a Pinto body on a B2 chassis before, somewhere.

I suppose I'll take part, I currently own 7 RBVs, 3 of which are road legal, plus a few extra parts which were going to be a project all their own. Of the 4 that aren't registered, two are Bronco IIs and 2 are Rangers.

Both of the B2s are 1984 models, and they are for parts to do a functional restoration of the legal B2 (I should be starting this project soon).

One of the Rangers is an 88 with a half-finished 4.0 and second gen dash swap, it will be donating its 96k 4.0 to the 86 B2, ( @lil_Blue_Ford it's almost time to come get your free 2.9, haha) then it will either be sold as a roller or parted out (I started the project because I couldn't find a B2 at the time, but my heart wasn't in it and still isn't).

The other Ranger donated its enclosed service body which was turned into a mini camper (stay tuned for an update on that soon) and will be parted out and scrapped due to a broken frame and lack of paperwork.

The remaining pile of parts was supposed to be a go fast in the dirt truck but that isn't really my style (anyone want to buy a an SHO 3.2 and 3.0 M5OD? PM me, haha)

So, what's the wheelbase on a Pinto. Ever thought about a Pinto body on Ranger chassis/drivetrain? One of those station wagon Pintos with the round bubble window near the back end.

Just another Brinto at the Mall . . .

They don't need no education, but if they had gotten some, they'd know the Bronco II wheelbase is a perfect 94" match.
