TRS Event TRS 2023 Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes

Hopefully i can make it tomorrow sometime to hang out! Still need to get a “spot” there which i figure shouldn’t be to hard? Either way, I’m all loaded just in case. View attachment 98202
Alright Alright Alright...Bobby drove his car down....I should have had him bring the ranger...... didn't realize you had the OG...

Gents, and Ladies, young ones, if you are getting your spiritual guidance from me, you are in deep trouble, but I have a thought, a request

Doesn’t have to be the most holy, just has to be someone who believes, who knows how to extend his/her hands in friendship. Can I be so bold as to ask that someone in the morning, when the group is together, ask for that moment of prayer and silence to thank the Man upstairs for all the talent, and passion, and ability, and friendship bringing this together, to ask for safety and camaraderie, to ask for good luck and mechanical success, excitement and humility, and pride, but only coupled with assistance for the next in line. Could they also ask for his grace, guidance, and assistance and comfort for those who may have wanted to attend but experienced difficulties. And may he shine his light over Jim Oaks, and all of TRS,to act and behave and move forward the way he would have us behave and move forward.

and if you fall for that one, maybe you could poke the same guy to pray before meals, speak to his guidance and mercy during awards, and good moments, and ask for guidance and safety, on the way home, and with our lives every day.

And maybe a winning lottery ticket for Rick.

I’m about to start my trek West. Hopefully the foot pain won’t be an issue. I suspect I may be having a issue with gout but I’m not sure since I’ve never had it before. At least it isn’t the clutch foot. That may help.

I have to work tonight. But do have permission to leave early as long as my partner is there. I may head out at 6am. Assuming I'm not too tired. Means I'd see ya'll around 9am Saturday. If anybody will be around then.

Alright everyone. So my original plan had been to run out to my friend Lisa’s on Wednesday night. Well, meet her at her work anyway. Due to a random assortment of issues, by 10pm Wednesday night I figured I’d be better starting fresh in the morning on Thursday. Got loaded up, took a quick loop around home to make sure it would go, and headed out. Pulled into Lisa’s on a transmission that wasn’t acting right at all, pissing power steering fluid, and a couple electrical problems. One of the electrical issues also affects transmission, so that doesn’t help.

Transmission read full when I ran it for the first hundred miles, but I always checked with it not running. When I got out here I was a quart low. After a quick run to get gas and leave it idle a bit. It was down another quart then. Can’t find a leak but there’s so damn much power steering fluid over everything… Checked the transmission with it cold and off and it’s overfilled. I can’t remember how it’s supposed to be checked. It was slipping and hunting and the O/D cancel button wasn’t working but the V-8 seemed pretty healthy and I just stayed easy on the throttle. Engine never got hot so I don’t think the transmission got too hot, but I could be wrong.

The #6 fuse is blown, I replaced it and was able to blow it just by loading the circuit. Also my cap lights don’t work, which is a relatively minor problem. I don’t have a blown fuse for those though. I have my basic electrical kit plus a couple things on board and I have the Ranger shop manual and wiring diagrams. So it’s just a matter of it stopping raining long enough to dig out the gear and try figuring it out.

Power steering should be resolved. An $88 trip to a local hydraulic hose shop got me a hose with crimped on fittings like I probably should have done from the start. It’s currently on the truck.

Very disappointed that we can’t be there. I knew I was taking a gamble and I had a self-rescue plan (take the Choptop home to get the F-150 to rescue the Ranger). If I can squash these electrical issues and the transmission starts acting right on a test run I could try continuing but at this point I think discretion is the better part of valor here and I just need to bow out before anything else goes wrong. Nobody can say I didn’t give it one heck of a try.

I really feel for you, but agree, better part of valor. They say it’s about the journey, but it sure sucks when you don’t get to the end of the path!

Don’t get discouraged. You will get it together, and it will be glorious! And we can’t wait to see it all done (are they ever all done!).

BTW, in honor of the offloading, even though I couldn’t go, I did a little offloading myself today. I took it out of storage, checked it out, and then I went over all the hills and stuff behind the house. There was one wet spot that concerned me a little bit, but I got through it with no trouble at all. I didn’t even come close to getting stuck.

Probably the biggest difference with this and you guys is that you guys are doing this in your ranger trucks and broncos. My adventure was with the Black & Decker lawnmower plugged into the extension cord. I still got sweaty and dirty.

Enjoy. Pictures pictures!!!!

Nice pics! That last one has me smelling the wood smoke from the campfire.
