What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

that sounds so much faster than our ladder days. you guys have someone smart working there, ha ha ha. obviously, we are not :(
The smart guy was whoever volunteered to go up the ladder first. The dummy was the one that thought he got the "easy" job by staying on the ground.

I’ve seen the guys that setup booths at trade shows. They use aluminum A frames with the round rings on both sides. They take the metal folding supports off and replace them with rope.
That way they open and close the ladder to walk it with their legs while they are putting up a sign.

Those buggers can run with those things.

I test drove it in an attempt to figure out what the strange humming/howling noise that occurs only while decelerating from 70 to 60 mph in 4th gear. It appears to be comin from the driver's side of the engine compartment. I can't think of a thing that's located there that would make the kind of noise. So, the noise must be coming from somewhere else and it just sounds like it is coming from there.

I can think of a few things. A wheel, front suspension parts, an exhaust manifold (and piping), steering mechanism.....

I sold a guy some tires and met him in town. Got some real funny looks. haha

Did some articulation testing comparing a hooked up sway bar to a disconnected one.

On a sketchy scrap wood ramp 😎

I'll post the video once it uploads. Enough difference to spend the time disconnecting it before you hit the trail for sure.

Spent a couple hours getting the clutch bled this morning. Now i need a brake line, trans fluid, and figure out why the speedo doesn’t work.

Replaced left tailgate latch. RockAuto part was fine. Their included screws were kind of junk, two diff torx sizes too, so I re-used mine, no big deal.
That answers the question does Ranger latch fit and not only that, when I had it apart I found the Ford oval stamped right into the metal of the tailgate body so it looks like the whole thing is the same.

It only occurs during deceleration. If I give it any throttle the noise goes away. The exaust is on the opposite side of the vehicle, so it isn't the exhause. I noticed it changes slightly when the A/C comes on. Other than a change in engine load, the only other thing that changes when the A/C comes on is the signal sent to the IAC. I unplugged it and took it for a test drive. I didn't hear it with the IAC unplugged. I'm going to do a second test drive today and if I get the same results I'm going to order a new IAC.

Replaced my rear brake shoes, hardware, and upgraded to Aerostar drums

Had to move the '90 out of the shop to get to the push brush mower so I took a loop around the property for curiosity sake, and you know what they say about that and the cat... I got it stuck about where I got the tractor stuck a few weeks ago... sunk both passenger side tires down to the axle. Conveniently it's way easier to get the Ranger out... grabbed 2 straps and the '98 Explorer and it pulled out on the second try no problem with the wife driving the sploder...

Then there was a garage sale a couple miles away and a church sale near that so took the '97, got some bigish (about the size of 4-6 30 cal ammo cans) steel ammo crate with seals and 6 latches and two handles for like $13, knife sharpening wheels for a bench grinder for $5 and a couple other trinkets...

Here's my test from yesterday, examining the effectiveness of disconnecting the front bar for articulation.

Washed, pre wax cleaned and waxed the truck. (Only use Zymol products) Just about to turn 60k miles. Going to drive my 250 for a few days give this truck a look over before warranty expires. At least it looks good! Need some spray ceramic to help repel water but for now ok.

There was a guy in another forum making quick connect sawy bar links. But a lot of guys I know that have changed the whole strut assembly ,instead of the puck lift, have just removed them totally. They say the aftermarket struts are wat stiffer than the factory so they don't need them. Me myself like them on road but have removed them once or twice while out wheeling. It's a huge improvement just driving down rough gravel roads as well. Soaks up the bumps way better

I started a Tik Tok channel for mine ( Ranger850 FYI ) . I will be trying to document the v8 swap here ( TRS.com ) and there ( Tik Tok ). Trying to get some motivation for getting that truck on the road. Procrastination is a MF.
