What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I installed a Double-Din Kenwood DVD stereo to go with the 4 Kenwood speakers I had already installed.
after reading a lot of the posts on here about all the problems many have had after their mods I am happy to report that everything else still works as it should.

Parked the two tupperware/pop can rigs on the barn, parked the ranger somewhere a tree will have do some flying to land on it, wished the ol' girl the best of luck and headed to the basement. Could hear the sirens from town as I took off for the house.
Just prayed for your safety.

7 miles is too close... mother nature scares me.

Secured my power steering pump dipstick tube on the old truck so it stops flopping around.

That's what everyone says.

I'm just old school about some things... and I've made a bunch of brake lines over the years... using steel line.

The NiCopp stuff is easy to work with and flares easy... but because its soft... I worry a bit on longer runs because it isn't as durable. Rub through from vibrations and stuff.

I'm still going to try it and form my own opinion.
So I’ve made a bunch of line out of steel. Used to buy it by the coil. Then when I had a steel line I made rot out in less than two years, I got irritated. I bought a coil of stainless line then and it was a PITA to work with and really hard to flare. The next time I needed brake line on something I had found out about Nickel/copper. Want to say that was my F-150, which got all Ni-Copp. Probably was 15-ish years ago. Also did my choptop, 88, and green Ranger in all Ni-copp. Turns a tarnished green after awhile and that’s about it.

So my friend stopped at the auto parts store and grabbed the only 3/16 line end they had and came over and put the new line in. I made it to the GF house today thanks to him. It's a good thing they only had one fitting as the wheel cylinder fitting was a different size and thread. We reused the old fitting as it wasn't in bad shape. He brought over his flaring tool and screwed up 3 times so I said that's it I'll grab mine since I know it works well. Sure enough using mine both flares went smooth with no issues. Funny that he said he only flared 2 lines with his and I know mine has done 50 or more both the steel and Nickle/copper line. I think his cheep kit is junk compared to my cheep junk kit. Lol.

He is going to talk to his nephew, the person I got the truck from, and set up a weekend for him to do the front lines for me with my friend watching him. DJ will get the money instead of some shop that I have no clue of there capabilites plus I get to help a friend out with some cash. I'll lend them my flaring tool though.

So I used a couple cheap junk kits over the years and making sure you had a flat and de-burred cut was important, I used to use files to dress up my cuts. Then I got smart and bought a lever style flare tool and a de-burring tool. Should have spent that money years ago, all the wasted time before. Cut, twist, twist, yank, yank, done. Looks like a factory flare. I’m actually mad at myself every time I use it for fighting with the cheap ones for so long.

Parts of this post sound like somewhat bad instructions for something else which is completely unrelated... Well, time for bed.

DOH!!!!! No Box round 1 - Perfect reaction time but broke out even though I lifted early and jabbed the brakes at the stripe. Bought back in then went .007 RED.
I used to hate beating myself. When we were racing back in my younger days. I would do 3 or 4 qualifying runs set my time just a touch better and still break out just about every other week. Nothing worse than beating yourself. The more you watch that tree the better you get at anticipating it haha. Started taking my best run and subtracted my reaction time and then I would get beat to the stripe. But at least I didn't beat myself. I hated bracket racing. But super comp is even worse in my opinion. Blast off the line falls on it nose then takes back off. That's just hard to watch. Again that's my opinion

Yeah, I went to bed after that

This looks like a candidate for the quote thread.

I can't beat this, but I did have the antifreeze swapped out today.
The mechanic was impressed with how clean the engine is.
