TRS 2021 Fall Off-Road Round-Up

I’ll be packing tonight and leave in the morning. The plan is to be there about 1600-1700. It’s a 7 hour drive per GPS. Reality always takes longer.

Do I need to pack wood for fires? It was never really confirmed.

Does anyone have issues with kilts?

In any case, the plan is to load firewood, if needed, grab my SAR bag and pack some clothes. I need to eat up the freeze dried food and replenish. So, the SAR bag makes it real quick and easy.

What is the plan on beverages prohibited on the Badlands Park?I’m guessing that they are fine in the campground. Of it’s going to be a dry trip, that’s fine too.

I want to get on the road no later than 0900 but if I need to make a quick stop, the 1600-1700 arrival time gives me some fudge room.

EDIT: Beanie will be packed as well. After this trip, it gets passed on to the next newb moderator.

I was going to bring firewood, but within the last month there have been Spotted Lanternflies seen in town. If we didn’t have them, I wood have brought some. <— see what I did there?

I guarantee there was drinking on the trails (ask the guy in the SxS that hit the tree about 10’ in the air.), but if I was a drinker, I would save it for the after party.

Don't blame bugs for your laziness!

Laziness!?!? If it weren’t for the bugs, I would have made the wife and kid load the firewood in my truck.

As discussed, most places are discouraging "imported" firewood, to minimize transportation of bugs and plant diseases. If you want tochance bringing some, that's up to you. Alcohol in the campground should be ok. I would definitely discourage it for drivers in the park.

It was definitely not going to be a drinking and driving thing. After party only.

How bad are the pack of wood prices? I haven't bought any in years, so have no idea what a good price is.

I think it said $5.50 per bundle or 5 bundle for $20. Not great. But better than I've seen other places

I just checked the PA website to see what is going on with this in PA. My county is one of the ones that is in quarantine for them. So, rather than chance it, I'll leave the firewood at home. Though, I do not recall seeing anything that looks like the pictures they show for them.

Not horrible then. Bet they are small bundles too. Beggars can't be choosers.

I have some left over heat treated firewood from last camping trip. Think it would be fine since heat treated?

It's still bundled and labeled

Hey, Hi!! The ol'man and I are planning on being in Attica at about 4pm tomorrow! Also here's a lil teaser of the last year's progress!

we will probably burn a couple three bundles just to get a great bed of coals to bake pizza.

I've also got some firewood... not gonna chance crossing state lines. I'm in for a 5 bundle for $20 deal.

I think everything’s all loaded... did I forget anything?
