What a difference 22 years make

This is truth. In addition to bicycles, I have so far applied this rule to guns, trucks, and cordless tools as well.

I think this would apply to most of us on here (definitely including myself). I sometimes ask myself why I have so much stuff. Then I forget what I was thinking of and start looking at more stuff.

Good luck on the 4th gen SHO. They don't exist. 4th Gen Taurus is 2000-2007. SHO was discontinued at the end of the third generation ('96-99), and brought back in 2010 (6th gen). I just checked, though, and Wikipedia (who claims the Gen1 Ranger ran from 1983-1992) considers the 2010-2019 Taurus SHO to be a Gen4.

Yeah. I'd swear it's as big, if not bigger than my 2004 F-150 Lightning. Probably heavier as well, since it's got more seats and cab metal.

Maybe because your lightning is a low 2wd.

My old 4wd F-150 towers over a new Ranger, I don't get the whole "it is as big as a F-150" nonesense. They are not that much bigger than a older Ranger.

I think there are two things that play into making it look bigger.

1. Most of the ones I’ve seen around are the crew cab. So that makes it look way bigger.

2. The taller bed sides make it look taller.

4thGen SHO, not 4th GEN Taurus. I had a 4th gen ('04) Taurus, and a 98 Taurus. If I ever buy a Taurus again, it will be a SHO.

For the record, the SHO *IS* a Taurus. The fourth gen SHO is based on the sixth gen Taurus, but the SHO is a Taurus.

I suppose we could argue about this until kingdom come. But, consider this: the Ford LTD was initially a trim level of the Ford Galaxy, that was eventually spun off into it's own model. So, was the first LTD a Galaxy? Or was it an LTD?

It's really not worth arguing about. I'm just nitpicky, and that's because the first through third generations of the SHO correspond with the lesser Taurus models, but then the SHO skips two generations, and reappears based on the sixth generation Taurus.

I am curious where they are getting the width measurement from.

If the Ranger was really wider they could fit a sheet of plywood between the wheel arches... but no the '19+ Ranger is 3" and change too narrow between the wheel wells.

Not disagreeing with you. SHO is a trim for the Taurus. 4th gen SHO is a 6th gen Taurus.
