What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

There was also no guarantee a song would fully end on one side. You couldn't rewind them, they constantly clicked and sounded awful, and they melted in your glovebox for some reason...

God I miss 8 tracks...

I don't remember having too much trouble with them. Dad fixed up an 8-track player that sat on the dog house in our Plymouth van. Speakers were under the front seats. That was an awesome vehicle for family trips. I had the front bench seat and my brother got the rear bench. The dog wandered around and spent time with each of us. We went all over the place pulling a Starcraft pop-up camper. Those were the days.

Wait...you're not old enough to have owned 8-tracks! Get out of here you imposter!

My childhood may have been in the 80's but my toys were from the 60's...

You forgot to cover the speaker in gingham so nobody will steal it.

I set that up because I was going to get my parents wedding (which was recorded on 8 track for some reason) re-recorded and spruced up onto a CD as a Christmas present. I found the dusty old 8 track in the attic and went to play it to see if it sounded good enough to even bother but apparently at some point someone recorded over their wedding with an album by 'The Byrds'. :icon_rofl:

All kidding aside, where they chickens? Or canaries?

77 would still be 8 tracks...

I’ve got the original 8-track in the 78 Mark V, and about 30 tapes I’ve had for 40 years.

When the tapes start to warble like the folks are singing underwater, you open them up, clean the spinner and pads with alcohol, and lube the spinner shafts with talc. You cut the tape pulling out of the center for about a foot, RE-attach it and wind it back in with your finger. That takes the built up squeeze tension out. Good for another century!

Blood sweat and tears, led zep stairway to heaven, Joan Jett and the black hearts , beach boys- WAH HOO!
