Mystery tool thread.

It's the key to Dirtman's basement
Please, one single key. There’s multiple layers of security, some of which are even on time delay locks. Then you have to go under the steam engine like in The Rock. The only way anyone ever escapes is when dirtman passes out drunk and leave the damn thing open.

OK, back to mystery tools. The 2 pieces on the right are parts of the same tool that would almost always be used with the tool on the left.
The tool on the left often is used without the tool on the right.

Well the tool on the right is a flex driver. The spring allows the shaft to bend and reach into tight spaces while maintaining tension enough to turn things, but they rarely with well with anything that takes any sort of torque to move.

I can't see the middle piece too well, nor the end of the piece on the left as well as I'd like.

I'm gonna guess some sort of carb adjusting tools.

I know exactly what those are... but I will let this simmer a bit.

something to do with setting points on a car older than the 1970s

The one on the left is a screw starter.

Mr. Goodwrench was here earlier..

It looked similar to the m16 firing pin. My cousin posted a meme with the M16 pin with the text " if your boyfriend dont know what this is, he's your girlfriend" or something like that. I had to ask him what it was. 😂.

I got bad news for ya... that meme has a bolt carrier group not just the firing pin.

Lapping tool, BCG and firing pin.

How long should I wait for an answer? It sounds like a couple of guys know.
I have a couple more but didn't take pictures yet- one is a Snap-On #2 Philips screw driver that's about 2 feet long. Any ideas?

You got me by the ass on that one Walt. Guessing for something obscure and horrible to try to reach?

Dad has something similar to it in one of his boxes, but never knew what it was. He was a Ford tech from 86-88

Or was it 76-78? 🤷🏿‍♂️

I bought the screw driver in the mid-late 70's for around $20, that sounds cheap now but it was most of a day's pay. It was used to aim headlights using the old Hoppy stick on aimers. The long blade got your hand back far enough so the light beam wouldn't be blocked. In recent years I use it as a stethoscope by putting the tip on the part and the handle on my ear.

Alright, here's an oilfield one for ya...
