Cybertruck Reveal

@rusty ol ranger no offense, but my 3.5L EcoBoost puts out the same power as those old 460's, and does it more efficiently. Some of the new 3.5's put out more.

Oh i know they do.

However...i would be interested to see what would happen up a decent hill from a stop with a good load if you started in 2nd to take the low 1st gear out of the equation.

My next truck is very likely to be a 2011+ F150 (yours is an expy right?), but im gettin the 5.0.

What is it with you and adding artificial restrictions so you can keep up?

How is that an artificial restriction?

If we are compareing engines i would say that keeping gearing as close to the same is fair.

You wouldnt put bob vila against arnold swartznegger in a rusty nut breaking contest and give ol bob a 10 ft cheater bar would ya?

That's not even similar.

Your version is like putting Bob Vila against Arnold and telling Arnold he couldn't use his own muscles.

If you're going to compare two vehicles, you can't simultaneously restrict one and then act like you made it a fair fight. That's the opposite.

Not comparing vehicles.

Compareing engines.

If i wanted to compare vehicles id say bring a new F150 and see which one takes the most dirt in the bed before it sends a spring hanger into the box floor.

Cmon dude...youve know me online for what....17 years? You know how i operate.

I think yall just like gettin me wound up.

The 3.5 EcoBoost makes more power than a Sherman tank. Wanna guess which one would win in a pull-off though... Hint, it's the tank...

If you just want to compare engines, the only fair way to do that is on a stand connected to a dyno. Otherwise you are comparing the packages they come in.

As someone else just said, there's no sense in even involving the vehicle to determine what you apparently want to know. A side by side dyno run would show you that more clearly and accurately than anything else could.

Anyone else notice there's no windshield wipers on that tesla truck? Can you not drive it in the rain?

It's electric... obviously you can't get it wet.

I do agree with that.

You wanna find a crank dyno a fresh late model 460 and a 3.5, we'll do it.

My point is...while the 3.5 peaks same/higher id be damn interested to see who wins in work territory...as in, below 2500rpm.

I truely am curious. I dont know if the 460 would hold its own or not. I believe it would, but i dont know.

Have you considered just searching for a dyno chart?

the only thing the 460 is gonna move that the ecoboost wont is the fuel gauge needle.

+1

We have one of each in my family, brother has a '14 Tremor and my dad has a '96 F-250, both have 4.10's.

Tremor is probably heavier (4wd), '250 has a ZF-5... truck aside (brakes/suspension etc) the Tremor would bring a beatdown the likes of which the '250 has never seen before.

The '250 is far from a dog, it is the #2 hottest thing in the family fleet by a wide margin.

Now about EV's. "Most" gets thrown around a lot. In reality "most people" is a pretty vague term that I am not even sure applies to a majority of people and yet a lot of people (not necessarily on here) go stark raving mad about what "most people" need. It does get really old.

I would guess same reason they have no side and physical rear view mirrors at this point. They're hoping to have the future tech ready and whatnot. Tesla patented an electromagnetic wiper. This would be pretty awesome if they could ever get it to production. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/09/30/new-tesla-patent-an-electromagnetic-windshield-wiper-system/

Just to stir the pot a little. :)

For another real world test you could start both trucks at top of a mountain with 1/2 fueled then see which truck goes farther the Tesla or gas truck. Tests like this are rigged and having one truck tow another isn't real either.
To truly know the value of the truck you need to know what you need and buy the correct vehicle/package.

A perfect example of this would be the worlds largest EV that never needs recharged from a cord. This vehicle/package perfectly fits the needs in this scenario. but flip the equation over and an EV towing tons of rock uphill would be worthless in no time.
