Your request for a factory rock crawler/trail truck have been heard

Really even after the spark plug shooter heads to. Sure the 5.4 has more at peak but ill bet down in the useable ranges the 351 is right with it if not ahead,

I am sure the shorter stroke of the 351 really helps with the bottom end torque.

2v 5.4 has 350 lb-ft at 2500, I have been towing with one for 14 years. With the od off it runs around 2700rpm, so as it pulls down it pulls into its power band.

A Ford Super Duty would be my last choice as an off-road truck.

I put a 3-inch lift and 295/70/18 (34.50x12x18) mud terrains on my 2010 F-350 FX4 diesel. I even had it off-road in Colorado. But I see the Super Duty more as a vehicle to get your toys to a remote location, than a true offroad vehicle. Kind of like how Ford see's the current Ranger. LOL. I bought my Super Duty to pull my toy hauler camper, and with the mild lift and mud terrains, I could probably drag it about anywhere.

I love it when guys bring their quad cab f350's on 38" tires to the trails... they generally make it about 14 feet down the trail before they high center on the first hill or realize they cant turn sharp enough to pass the first switchback.

The truck you described is for towing your off-road toys to the trail you described... not for driving on it.

I still have high hopes for the new Bronco...

Come on now, how many times have you seen the typical giant diesel mall crawler down in the pines. They show up thinking they are cool until everyone else goes for a trail ride, and they cant fit so they go play in a mud puddle alone like the weird kid in 3rd grade who ate paste.

What's wrong with playing in the mud?

Or eating paste:
I wonder if I can take the body panels off my Smart car convertible (yes, there's a Smart car in my driveway. No, it technically not mine. My mother parked it there when she got her new car 3 years ago and it hasn't been touched since... don't ask. ) and put them on my SxS so I can drive it on the street.

I still have high hopes for the new Bronco...

Now the rumor is that the Bronco will get a Raptor package with the 2.7L V6, which is the engine I think Ford should have put in the Ranger.

Same platform, it might cross over...

The rumor that seems to be the strongest is that the 2021 Bronco will debut the chassis that will be under the updated Ranger in 2023. The 2.7 won't fit in the current Ranger chassis. So it looks like the Ranger may get the 2.7 after the update.
The new Raptor-like Bronco is supposedly using the code name Rock Monster.

If they offer one with a four door option, I'm in after I pay off the 2019!

For a second I thought you were referring to that girl from high school... Code name Raptor. She was a... oh never mind.

All that sounds promising... even though I don't plan on driving through the desert at 90 mph.

It just needs to have the retro styling of the original. Sorry sandman... but Bronco's are two door.

Make it optional like a wrangler. I would love to get a real 4x4 for a family car with a real axle in the back and ditch all this low slung FWD based crap SUV’s that are offered now.

Then I wouldn’t get the fun “I got stuck on our road” calls that involve me dragging the Edge out of a drift and then driving wifey to work in my truck.

If the next ranger gets an even bigger chassis and the same engine as the f150/raptor... whats the point of having both? :icon_confused:
