Pretty hard to beat FWD off road, only reason 4WDs works as well as they do, but ground clearance would be the weak point

Wonder how that would look with body lift and 30" tires :)

I have a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek as a daily driver, and to pull behind our motor home. Aside from being towed 40,000 miles across the USA numerous times, it has been down a lot of fire and logging trails in many national parks.
All wheel drive, and in it's stock form has the same ground clearence as a stock Jeep CJ. Can get to alot of places a Jeep can't due to it's small size and short front/rear angles. Granted, it's not a rock crawler and won'g get thru a bog, but any dirt trail is an easy run.
Snow, ice, mud, dosen't slow it down at all. Just a lil bit bigger than that Ford Fiesta.

I'm thinking bout turbo charging it, putting a big spoiler on the back and a 5 inch tailpipe that makes it sound like a bunch of bees having an orgy.

I love Rally cars but they are usually not good for going off the trails

i thought the whole Rallying concept was on and off road???

Way back in the "olden" days, 50's, 60's, the real rally's were on and off road, off road being/meaning trails, dirt, mud ect. Top pick cars back then were Saab's, Volvo's Renaults, and a few others, but no American vehicles that I can remember.
Some of the rally's were some of the first auto racing ever run on tv, back when we only had ABC, NBC, and CBS.

No, the concept of Rally racing is staying ON THE ROAD but at high speeds, which is not as easy as it sounds, wait, doesn't sound easy at all, lol

And a "road" can be paved or unpaved, public or private but needs to be a "maintained" road

Baja 500 is an Off Road race, but similar to rally race but with more bumps :), these roads are for the most part "used" but not "maintained"

I'm fairly certain a gravel road would destroy the fiesta lol

Depends on the gravel road. Winter aside you would do fine on gravel roads around me.

It has potential.

Knock the factory suspension off, mount it on a (prolly shortned) 78/79 bronco or pre 88 K5 frame, coupled up with a big block, 4 speed, and some 35s+ youd be golden.

Well, if we're talking Ford Fiesta's.......

Yea... uhhh.... I don't think mine can do that...

Dump a bunch of money into it and it will. And when I say off road I mean roush creek kinda off roading not kenya public highway (stone dirt)
