PlumCrazy's Build

I have more ideas and plans than I do time and money..... like at a ratio of 10:1...

As far as answers to his questions go. Nothing that I know of came factory with a 5.13 4x4 axle in a light duty. I only can think of a few that even use that ratio factory. Everything I know of with that ratio factory is a F450+ truck.

That white dually has a 225/70/19.5 tire on it. That's as small as you can get.

WTF you want a LP pass side 44 for?

A pass drop LP upsidedown becomes a HP driver drop.....that turns backwards... Its for a stupid idea I have that will probably not get past the parts gathering phase....

Were you going to flip the axle, rotate the axle tubes, and put high pinion gears in it or were you going to build an axle for rear steering?

But not a D50... They were mono beam 2wd or D60

Not quite. The cat will come out of the bag eventually.

No. I just like to get my ideas a little further along before I spill the beans...lol. I have a primary group that has to put up with my random rambling about silly ideas that never materialize....once they become random ideas with a little bit of merit...then the idea is shared so everyone can watch as I slowly abandon the project and push it into the corner..

The work you do is great. I am hoping to start learning about building offroad pigs like yours that look so I am subscribing. Plus I will try to help with your full size questions since I know the full size better then the rangers.

Plumcrazy:

To answer your question: Spicer never made 5.13 gears for D50.

Cover all Fords from '67 to '11.

There are some aftermarket guys, e.g. Yukon gear make Dana 50 gears in 5.13s...

The Ranger is finally at the new place...Garage Queen for a few months.

(Damn that body looks good in that light........jk)

Picked up this little fella for a pretty decent price after some arguing with the manager at TSC.

I priced around and found that they were the best bang for your buck for a 14+ CFM compressor with a decent brand name and warranty. I called around 8am to make sure they had one in stock so I could swing by after work and grab it.....some fairly unprofessional guy answered phone with a "Hello?" He verified they did have one, but......it was missing the pressure switch and was the display model (they actually display all the bigger compressors on the floor). No biggy, he said they stole it because on on the smaller compressors was damaged during shipping and they used the one off this guy to fix it. He said they had the new one ready to go on. Cool...so I decided to go ahead and reluctantly agree to pay list price for a pieced together display model.(They still had best price by $100)

So I show up at around 6pm to pick it up. I noticed the pressure switch that they stuck on was a generic brand and had some cheap Chinese fittings adapting it on...I asked if they would discount it since they had cobbed it together with non OEM parts...They wouldn't budge. I should have walked out then, but like an idiot I still bought it. They took forever to get a forklift driver to load me up.

I get home and unload it....I start looking around at it to see where the outlet is so I can figure out how to orient it in the garage....and that's when I found that for some reason on this model the outlet is supposed to be on top with the pressure switch...and gauge..which was missing and reassembled incorrectly.

At this point I was furious, but they were closed. So first thing in the morning I went over with the receipt. Explained the situation (Kept my cool since this wasn't the manager from the night before)

I wanted 10% refund and the right parts, or Id load the bitch backup and exchange for the next size up (4cyl beast) or I return it and never come back.lol

The guy said he would order the OEM parts, expedite them, refunded me $100, and told me to keep the parts they put on it. (perfect for an OBA control later)...any who the whole ordeal pissed me off and I should have demanded more of a refund, but I paid less than what I would have for the 10 CFM I was originally looking at.

Scored two of these Reznor 75,000 BTU heaters for free (over $900 ea new) So the wood burner is in the scrap pile now.lol I just have to convert them to LP instead on NG. The kit is less than $100..I read the conversion stuff may be mounted inside so they could be swapped right off the bat if needed, but I haven't looked. These units where used for two winters in a warehouse, then removed when they added AC and put in storage where they sat for 4-5 years.
