I am sick of yahoo and would like to get another email provider but do not know who to use. so I ask what you guys think, who do you use/suggest?
I would prefer a free provider

ive been using yahoo for years, and still do use yahoo for my main email address. just recently i've made a couple new addresses using gmail. ive also used hotmail in the past. between the second two, i prefer gmail.

I’ve used gmail for a long time now and have not had any major problems.

try them…
gmail.com, go from there.

Gmail. Set one up and don't look back lol.

I have a hotmail address and love it for the little I use it. But my address is also on a premium leased server.

I'd prefer a F-e-male in a G-string...but since this seems like a serious question I would have to agree with gmail...

I've been using it for quite a while...only thing I don't like about it is if you have two accounts open at the same time and decide to close one they will both shut down when you sign out...

And that is why I use an independent email program. Thunderbird ftw. Gmail is one of the few "free" email providers that have support for using programs like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Gmail - only way to fly, especially if you own an Android phone.

I thought Thunderbird was only a Mac based app...but, then again, there's been quite a bit of cross pollination...

I use it on my BB all the time...works great!

Sorry no android phones here only have one connected to the wall by a long curly cord.

Ah, the stone ages...I remember those days, actually...think I still have a scar on my ear from pushing that handset into my head for hours on end...

Another vote for Gmail and thunderbird.

I have had Gmail since it was by invitation only, and have not had any issues. Yahoo is still plagued with bots that can grab your login info if you are not careful. I haven't used hotmail in about 5 years, but it always was behind in quality and technology than gmail or yahoo mail.

Thunderbird will allow you to locally store your emails from Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail so you can free up space on the web side of it.

Gmail is nice I use it. I also am grand fathered into the free google apps. So I can add my own domains and not have @gmail.com but still have all the cool features. Gmail I've found has the best spam filter.

If privacy is a concern for you make sure you revise the privacy policies on any email provider (or any service for that matter. IE Facebook)

Edit:

I just remember for work we have google apps as well and I use an awesome extension for my browser and gmail called boomerang which lets you schedule emails and stuff. Awesome if you email a lot at work.

I can't say for sure as of right now, but you used to be able to connect hotmail and yahoo accounts to outlook express no problem.

But yes, Gmail is the way to go in this day and age. Well organized, tonnes of space, free... Its all you could really ask for.
