SVT 5.0 Ranger

I'm surprised that this one hasn't come up. I wish i could find the magazine now, but in '96 or '97 Motor Trend put out an issue featuring an SVT built Ford Ranger with a 5.0 V-8 mated to a mustang 5-speed. I believe it had cobra R style five spoke rims and a body color bumper roll pan and grill. I guess they made one quite similar in '03 with a blown 5.4. What an effing tease!

Anyways, i'll try and find the article and scan it.

Naw that was an option available to the public i believe later on in the ninetys. This was a red regular cab stepside truck.

The thunderbolt was a factory option package installed by SLP. Lightning bolt was the SVT's '03 tease.

The one i'm reffering to was made before the demise of the 5.0

It would be cool to see one made, Ford killed the idea a few times over. The sad thing is, my Ranger runs a faster quarter time.

The SVT 5.0 Ranger is Red Flairside with an explorer front clip.

I have a 10th anniversary SVT book that has the history of SVT and all the prototypes an whatnot. SVT Built the prototype 5.0 Ranger and the Prototype second Gen Lightning at the same time and they said when it came time to pick witch one to build there wasn't much of a price difference between building A 5.0 Ranger or Lightning so they went with the Lightning.
