Wow, I'm jealous! I hope the fishing is that good when I'm up in Kodiak next month.

that should be a great trip!

you'll be just up the coast from me,i'm sure you'll be hitting some monster chinook:icon_thumby:

Hopefully! My Dad (lives there) said the runs have been much better this year than the past few, so I'll take that as a good sign. I wouldn't mind some Coho too, but anything is better than Pinks.

you'll get coho...they're running strong this year too.

pinks make good cat food.just fish below 40' and you should miss most of them.i've been pulling springs from more than 200',while trolling for hali.

I don't know anybody with a boat unfortunately, so I'm limited to how far my hip waders will take me. :D

if kodiak is as thick with boats as it is here(and i'm pretty sure it is)your dad must know someone that's just looking for an excuse to go fishing....and there's no better excuse than to take a visitor out for a local experience.

I wanna do some of your fishing....
biggest thing I've caught this year is a 3 pound large mouth bass.

ya,she's been riding the boat since she was 3 months old.
of my two older dogs, the one that was sick died, and i don't like to leave her sister alone,so she's been getting used to the boat too.

i went out sunday before last and got some coho(they're thick out there now)but didn't take the camera.it's been blowing gale force for about a week now,but thursday is supposed to be nice....i plan on getting out for some more then:icon_thumby:

a customer of mine had his boat break down(blown head gasket, chevy 350)and he has freinds here from germany.it'll take a bit to get parts here to fix his boat,so i offered to take his buddies out fishing.

updates will follow.

dinner.

Ok now, that's enough of the fishing. Don't ya think it's about time to get a little more work done on the GT? JK, enjoy the fishing while you can, I know I would be if I were there. Not close enough to the coast to go there, and I can't catch anything in the local lakes.

On other note I might end up with a boat before the years out. There's a guy here with a 89 Spectrum 1700. It's a 17' aluminum hull Fish & Ski, with a 50 horse force outboard. Currently not running and the guy is asking 1500. Cosmetically the thing is in good shape for the age, but I haven't checked out the deck. I figure if I can talk the guy down to at least $1000 it might be a nice little project. I should leave it alone but something about it catches my eye more than anything else I've seen for sale in the area. I like the aluminum hull for the weight, and the layout because I really want more of a cruiser and this is set up like bow rider but the pads can be removed up front to expose a casting deck w/ livewell, storage and icebox. I figure if I can pick it up for 1000 and it's a 200 dollar fix like the guy claims I can have a nice little boat for cheap. If the motor is shot I'll watch for something with ~85 horse (max rating for this hull), swap motors, and sell the other boat.
