HID kit conversion

Those are exactly the type I am talking about. It might seem like it works to you, but you ARE causing people to go crazy in oncoming traffic. The DDM tuning setups are also pretty close to the cheapest garbage on the market. Go look at how a factory HID works, and look at yours. Totally different. All OEM setups use a moving lens these days, not a moving arc, and it's for good reasons. Light pattern, glare, and distance. I hope you don't cause an accident!

there is no upper glare coming from my projectors i made sure of it so that i dont cause those kind of problems so unless your laying on the ground 50 feet in front of my car or truck then you dont get glare

so what are the best bulbs for the money? i just want replacements

Silverstars.... or if you absolutely feel the need for more light, Silverstar Ultras. They are bright (I run regular silverstars) and I've found they tend to throw a wider pattern than el-cheapo halogens, plus anything that is reflective (like road signs) will glow at distances much farther than what is illuminated by the immediate beam.

As far as the question about the "hating on HIDs," it's mostly because I hate being blinded at night. I make the same complaint about people that never turn off their high beams. From time to time I have drove for a living (non-cdl) and if the paint marking the road is old and worn, it doesn't take much light coming the other direction - especially on a rainy night - to make the entire road disappear. Not fun.

The other part is the cheap junky light setups that everyone throws on with a funny-colored light (blue, purple, orange) that is distracting. Plus quality HID bulbs can be pretty pricey - I've seen some for some stock vehicles go for over $110 a bulb. I'll stick with buying my Silverstars for $40something a pair - they do everything I need a headlight to do and don't look ridiculous.

$110 a bulb? Uh no. You'd be getting majorly ripped off.

Top quality morimoto (one if the best in HID) are way cheaper. Can get projectors, bulbs, ballasts an all required wiring for only $300.

I've seen some side by side shots of the Phillips and sylvania.

The Phillips weren't as wide and didn't look as bright.

But they could last longer. Who knows.

I have heard a lot of people knock the Silverstars saying that they don't last long at all....

I ALWAYS use dielectric (aka bulb grease) on the plug. I had a set in my Ranger for over 2 years and I've had a set in my F-150 for over 2 years now. I put a set in mom's Explorer over a year and a half ago. They are all still going....

I used to use Sylvania and got a pair of the Phillips awhile back, I wont use Sylvania anymore. The light output seems much better with the Phillips bulbs and the throw pattern is better to me.

Ok, so not a general "hate", just to those who do the conversion improperly or with non OEM colors

I have always had bad luck with Silverstars not lasting. That being said, I too tried dielectric grease on the connections of my latest Harbor Freight cheapy bulbs and it has been almost a year. Granted the last time i tried these xenon-like bulbs is when i had one car, and now split duty between 2 cars and headlights used less.

Well if you really want to just have something for those late nights on the road by yourself You can buy some harbor frieght off road spot lights and throw some hids in them. now those will give you a tan at 1/2 mile away.

okay well on the amazon parts fitter it says that the philips bulbs wont fit? i want bright white bulbs. bright as i can get replacements
help?

okay thanks. i ordered some philips 9004 bulbs that are supposed to be 50% brighter than the factory ones. thanks for the help everyone
