daily doubler build

i loved the spool on the street....in the snow and rain it made for good times.

the ranger did more drifting than my mustang lol

Kyle's hookin me up with his welded carrier. I'll observe tire wear over the winter, and decided what I want to do from there when I order the 37's.

I rolled 200k yesterday

I bought the truck with around 49,000 if i remember correctly. Here's a blast from the past. Its a pic of a pic, so the quality sucks, but this was what it looked like shortly after I got it. Pin striping and all.

Here's the most recent pic, 8 years and 150k hard miles later.

Here's to another 200k. :icon_cheers:

Still Sexxxy.... The driver, not the truck.... Well ok the truck to.

I had hoped to build a traction bar this weekend, but USPS fawked up my shipment so I didn't get everything in time. Story of my life. haha

Swapping in my 8.8 was one of the first mods I did to my truck. When I did it, I welded all the brackets on without mocking the axle in first, just used an angle finder to set the angle for the spring perches and shock tabs.

I screwed up the shock tabs, one was higher than the other. When I got longer shocks, the one that was in the higher mount was being used as a bump stop. Not good.

So this weekend I pulled my rearend out, welded the tubes to the diff, and made new lower shock mounts.

Got 3 more inches of articulation out of it. 33" under the tire when the front is lifted. 40" when the rear is lifted.

Nice.... Looks like a lot but your numbers are about what I get on mine.

You've also got almost 20" of wheelbase on me.

edit: I was curious so I checked out an RTI calculator. For a 125" wheelbase (assuming what yours it with an extended cab?), it would require ~46.5" of vertical height to ramp what I do with 40" on a 20* ramp (which is 1083 :D)

are there pics of how you did the shock tabs on here? idk really how to do mine w/ my 8.8 swap to keep them up and not hanging down so much like my 7.5 does but... i don't wanna get super short shocks to.

what leafs are you running? i cant remember.

Hmmm. That is why shorter wheelbase is better... Oh, it was 125" but now it is close to 127"

No pics. It was easy. Just keep the shock bolted to the upper mount, bolt the tabs to the lower shock eye and swing it up to the axle where you want it, tack, remove lower shock bolt, pull axle, and weld it up.

After this weekend, mine are low enough that the whole shock eye is below the axle. Not super low, but lower than level with the axle centerline which is about where it was before.

63" chebbies

What wheelbase is good is dependent on the terrain. That being said, you're longer than I thought, so you've got some work to do to get the same relative articulation that I have. :thefinger:

I am going to recheck mine soon and see what I can get with the rear. Only lifted the front cause we were limited on time.

Moved the front axle forward to help with clearance issues on the front fenders and steering problems that I had on the 89.

Depending on what springs you're using up front, you'll most likely get more out of your rear. I could match my front and rear, but I'd need to go to a custom spring/coilovers/airshocks. I think I'm about as good as I'm gonna get with a prefab spring. Softer ones are too soft.

idk i think a longer is easier to get more flex outta than a shorter one (in theory). RTI kinda makes it a somewhat level playing field.

I can get 40'' under my tire (front and rear) and score a 747
the broncoll gets less height but scores bout the same :dunno:

altho i think somone needs to come up with a universal formula that figures the ramp angle into the equation. but im no mathmatician so i'll leave that to somone else.
