hey all, as the title says, i went through a mud hole with my truck and had to get pulled out, but after wards my truck would not go anyware, the slave did not want to engauge!! anyone else have this problem?? how did you fix it??

my truck: 2.9l, 5speed, stock x-case, dana 44 and ford 9" on 36's

the mud was almost covering the tires

thanks for any help
Kris

could you go into more detail on what exactly the truck is doing?

ive been in "quick sand" up to the doors before...so bad i had to disassemble my brakes and change all my axle fluids...and it never bothered the clutch.

well.. basicly i have to rock it just to get it to roll, and you can smell the clutch slipping, the felling on the pedal and the way it fells is like the clutch is not engauged all the way in. if you try to spped up on dry flat ground it will not spped up, just slip.. going 20 klm and in 3 gear at 3,000 rpm and you can rev it as you had you foot on the clutch, will not catch.

dose that help?

thanks
kris

i think your clutch got wet and is slipping, thats happend to a bud of mine , after the clutch dryed out it was fine.

ya sounds like you got abunch of shit on your clutch, is your inspection plug in the bell houseing, u can take the plug out and see in there,

well. i limped it home, cleaned the shit out of it with the water hose, let it dry, and its still not going anyware.. it is a new clutch as of feb 06, and only has 2000 klm of 4x4ing on it.

thanks for the help
Kris

jack the rear end up and see if you can spin the rear tires by hand (trans in nuetral, obviously). ill bet your drums are full of mud.

rolls just fine cus when i came to the hill by my house, it just started screaming down it, had to hit the brakes to slow down for the corner at the bottom of the hill

sweet... not really but ohwell... i guess i will let it sit overnight and try again tomorow... if i cant get it to go, then i am pullen the transe out and taken a look.

thanks for the help
kris

ya, who knows it might just be realt wet still, let her sit and dry out abit, good luck though.

i bet your pressure plate is packed full. happened to my buds ranger had to pull his tranny.

I got stuck in the mud up to the doors and had to leave it over night. the next day, after pulling it out, the truck would go nowhere, i sprayed the shite out of it and got it real clean, let it dry and still nothing.
I eneded pulling the clutch(it was pretty new also) and had to replace it, sucker was as smooth as a boob!

You fried your clutch. Driving around with it slipping like that just finished it off. You might be able to scare up just a clutch disc for it, but as long as you're there, might as well do the whole thing.

Definitely put in a new pilot and throwout bearing no matter what you do.

Getting a bunch of mud into the bell housing will grind down a clutch in no time. Make sure you get a plug for the inspection hole if yours is missing.
