Well guys, I'm wiped emotionally & physically.
My job at the ski area is going well, but my Ranger decided that now it would let the clutch go. Speaking of the jobs, its been insane!!!!!! Between the crazy people and high winds, this week has been nuts. I'm still alive, but feel like I need to sleep for a week. Anybody know a good price for having a Ranger clutch replaced? |

driveways usually my favorite for tranny work. go ask a high school auto shop, they do the work for free. you just pay for parts.

You sound exhausted. There's been some crazy accidents going on at the resorts with the lifts lately too.
As far as the clutch goes, Best bet would be yourself. Flywheel resurfacing would have to be done by someone else though unless you replace it. Sometimes it's not much more than resurfacing. As far as a shop goes, I would say maybe in the 700 dollar price range when all is said and done.

earlier this year when my clutch went to heaven i checked around and 450 was the cheapest i found so i did it my self and its not that bad if you either A have a tranny jack or B are strong. the hardest parts were getting at the top two bolts on the bellhousing with out extensions and swivels and getting the hydraulic line off using that cheap crappy little plastic removal tool

Driveway. it'll only cost about $100 in parts and you'll be driving it again the same day. Take it to a shop you'll have to wait 3 days and pay $500+
Also while you've got it apart i would recommend replacing the slave as well. If not, not you'll regret it.

If you get a good shop like mine.....a Ranger clutch and slave would be done in half a day(5hrs). That's if the flywheel is new. Machining a flywheel would add a little time. But yeah, expect a $700 price tag. I also recommend replacing the slave.

Yep.
I have a price of $600 to get my clutch replaced BUT it might be my slave cylender. Either way, I'm barrowing the shop's '94 Chevy S-10 as my driver for the next day or so. The good news is that I got buttloads of hours as work (ski season is in full swing & I run lifts!!!) so money isn't the issue. |

A quick update:
I found out that it's NOT the clutch, but the slave cylender that's failed. $1000-$1600 Such is life. Even with all this, I LOVE my Ranger. This is the first major parts replacement I've had to do on it. |

you can do it yourself for a fraction of that, seriously, under $200 for everything and still be done in a day. even if money is not an object, why waste it?
