Like the topic says. I am thinking of putting a cage in/on my beater truck. If I put an exo-cage on it does it make it illegal to drive on the streat? I live in Virginia.

Hmm. I'm curious to know also.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is if you got in an accident, you would annihilate the other car.

I can't say that I ever encountered any trouble to speak of. The truck was only driven on-road a couple times at that point though. You'd really want to check your state's laws, as well as with local and State Police instead of just taking advice from "some guys" on the internet.

I'm doubting that it's going to be street legal no matter where you live, they are illegal in PA. In PA as well as most states anything sticking out past factory body lines with the exception of fender flares and bumpers within reason is illegal. The only way to know for sure will be to talk to the DMV. I'm sure if your insurance company would see an exocage they wouldn't be happy either, huge liability on the street.

Tell em its part of your exhaust.

all you have to do is tell them it is a roof rack :icon_thumby:

i looked into it here(B.C.) i was told as long as it looked good, no sharp ends or pints and did not stick out passed the body to much you are fine. As per anything sticking out passed you body, what about racks that go around canopy for boats and canoes, they stick out passed the body.

I'm sure as long as you keep the cage tight against the body and follow the curves it should be fine. If anyone has a problem with it just tell them "Wes on The Ranger Station said it's fine, now go away..."
