SAS and Lift part of the build.....

Added fog lights

Bought long arms for my D30 SAS

And as of right now I'm doing the Chevy 63inch leaves swap

Got the one of the Ranger leaves out, after almost breaking my finger twice and breaking 3 tools, 2 extensions and a socket, two were craftsman and the other was a cheapy extension. Going to get the craftman ones replaced tomorrow. I also need to get all new axle U-bolt tomorrow as I broke 2 and the other 2 arent looking so good either.

Was going to use the 4 link set up on my D30 but after thinking about it, decided the long arm set up was the way to go. All I need to put my D30 under my truck is some .250 think angle iron that I can weld my long arm links to so that I can bolt it to my frame. Hopefully in the next few days my rear end lift will be done then its off to do my front.

More to come soon.

Got the other leaf pack off and got both front hangers off. Heres where it will roughly sit.

Hope to have this done by Wednesday (have that day off), tomorrow I have a weird work shedule and I have to leave for work here soon.

doin just the 63 swap didnt give me as much lift as everyone was sayin it would. I still have the rear shackle USD (pointing down). but i ended up runnin 4" blocks. and i still had to make a custom shackle. i think once the full width is done im gonna start lookin for some 6" chev lift springs. i would like to strip some out and make a softer ride.

Make sure you get the front hanger in the exact spot. I kinda rushed mine and didn't get it right.
Yes the 63's didn't give much lift only about 1.5 or so but it did ride and flex better until I broke a leaf yesterday.

The rear of my truck went from 24 inches to 34 inches after my swap, this of course with the bed off and measuring from the rear bumper. My stock shocks fully extended dont reach the bolt holes now with the new leaves on in the relaxed postition. I am running the fatory lift blocks, over load leaf, and the belltech 6400 shackles with this too.

Here are a couple of pics, I had just got done lowering her to the ground and got the tools picked up. I have yet to drive her but I'll wiat till I get the bed and shocks on her first.

My dad says I wont be able to get to the SAS this year due to it may get cold sooner then expected but who knows, I think I can pull it off (and clean out the garage and fire up the kerosine heater).

Ill get more pics tomorrow after stuff has settled and after re-checking my bolts.

I am right with escort on this one. i think it came up about 1 ta 2 inches. mine rides alot stiffer in the rear. but flex's alot more. im hoping to go fullwidth this winter. and i am gonna soften up the suspension quite a bit. some of the trails around here beat me up inside the cab

I went out a jumped on my bumper and it is much softer but I don't have shocks but now that I know what it feels like, I'm going to find a soft to mild shock.

Escorts leaf packs only came with 3 leaves total as compaired to mine came with 5 including the overload.

I also need to get a longer rear rubber brake line as might could go tight during flexing.

The chevy full size is also heavier than the ranger so it will be a bit stiff, but the right shocks will solve alot of it. I originally had the rancho rs5000's on the back and the procomp es9000 gas in the front the gas shocks wern't long enough for what I wanted and swaped them front to back. Now the Procomps just beat me to death driving down the road. I want to get rid of the ProComps and go with a lighter valveing hydraulic for the rear, maybe procomp 1000's?

Drove it around my neighborhood wothout shocks and bed and I could barrley fell the bumps. But going up and down my driveway entrance sure made the rear of the truck bounce. Other then that, the rear tracked straight ad my pinion angle isn't hurting (pics later been to busy to get on computer).

Escort if you can snap a few pics of your rear brake line, anything to save some money.

As far as shock brand, I'm 100% unsure until I know what's avalible in the size I need.

this is what I did with mine, granted it was a 93, but I think the brake lines are the same.

I just added a plate to the frame and moved the orginal out to give the brake line more room to move. I got somewhere around 4" to 5" of lift with my 63" swap (3 leaf pack and overload) and a extended shackle

as far as ride in the rear im runnin factory shocks (and they dont limit my travel) I know for a fact the front is riding really stiff and maybe its making me think the rear is too. who knows. BTW my spring pack has 4 springs so it sounds like we all have different spring packs.

I will post some pics of my rear brake line and shocks tomorrow as its gettin late tonight. i mounted the rear line in the center of the truck and welded it to the crossmember so that the long portion is pointing straight down. make sure your suspension is at full droop as im not sure if the line length is the same. as for shock mounts i cut off the factory mounts and welded them to the top of the axle. i was plannin on buying longer shocks but after cycling the suspension i realized that they were going to be long enough to my surprise.

Thanks for the picture, looks simple enough that ill just do that

So I assume summit is the place to look for custom shocks, IIRC.....

Hope to get more pics here sokn, busy day tomorrow let's see if I can squeeze in time to get on a computer.
