Default Biggest tire on stock suspension?

I have a 95 ford ranger 2wd, I have some 17" explorer rims on them with 215-65-17. Can I fit a bigger tire under there? I was thinking maybe 235-65-17 or 245-65-17 in an alterrain to make it look more off road looking.

Yeah, the 245s should fit fine.
