I find these forums very helpful except when we want to know if a factory wheel will fit a different year model truck. I got a couple of maybes and a few "you might need a spacer. But I never got an answer.

I want to replace my factory 1993 Ranger 14x6 inch rims with the rims from a 2005 Ranger PU. These rims are 16x7 inch.

WILL it fit without spacers, the answer is absolutely!

The original rim ( backspace??) is just a hair under 4-inches

Original14-inch.jpg

The 16-inch rim measures 4-3/8-inches. I'm assuming this means that the offsets are nearly the same because this rim is an inch wider

Original16-inch.jpg

So I trial fitted the rim and it looks like it sits out more (just slightly more) than the original.

Thanks

I hope others will find this info helpful

I really want to stay around the same overall diameter as the original. With that said I've been looking at 225/60R16 which has a diameter just 1/4-inch larger than stock. The other size that would be a good choice is 235/60R16 which has and overall diameter around 1/2-inch larger than stock.

I have not made up my mind yet but I need to soon, my wife is getting annoyed because the four rims are in the bedroom.

All RBV's have the same bolt pattern and similar offsets. The main problem is that some 4x2 wheels will not fit over the front hub on a 4x4.
AFAIK, the 14" wheels (4x2 only) are either 14x5.5 or 14x6. 15" wheels are either 15x6 or 15x7.
All 16" wheels are 16x7.

The newer 4x4 rims like the one's shown will not fit on a older 4x4 with lockout hubs too.

Newer hubless 4x4's have more options than those with lockouts.

I just wanna share the little information that I've got.

This rim will fit a 4x2 1993 Ford Ranger, no spacers are needed

The offset for this rim is 12mm and the backspace is 4-1/2-inches. This rim fits my Ranger perfectly.
