you may not think it's a big deal but this is the first thing i've done to this truck since new in 2004. i was backing up beside the carport in my yard and managed to put a nasty scrape and minor dents in my truck bed today. so i thought what the heck I'd take the bed off so i could get in from the bottom of the bed easier. I'm gonna attempt to get most of the dent out and maybe repaint the whole truck while I'm at it????? i already took a 2x4 and pop'd the worst of it out and like an idiot forgot the before pic so here's my progress thread..

the beginning,the dent/scrape.i primered them up with a spray bomb so it wouldn't rust till i got time to work on the bed...............................

tomorrow's project is to wire brush the frame and coat it with some black tractor paint just because i have a quart and a half laying in the shop and have some free time when I'm home. {should look better than rust} :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

It's a truck. It gets dented. Mine's got a dent from when a tree branch hit it in the 2008 ice storm.

Can't wait to see the results!

yea it's a truck, but since this was my first brand new truck it's kind of my baby?? hopefully it won't be real noticeable when I'm done..

Dents on a working truck are a badge of honor. Even if it does show a little, it'll be okay.

there's dents that are badges of honor/ but this is an act of stupidity :icon_twisted:

Ouch. Sorry to see that one, or three. Nothing a little filler and shiny stuff won't fix though.

as someone that deals with this stuff all the time,i can tell you that this is going to be a pita to get straight.....might be an idea to price out a new box-side.

ouch.. that sucks. I like the early gen 3 hoofprint wheels on it. did it come stock with the plain steelies?

Funny, I have a dent in the same spot.....only mine started at the excab window and caved in until I could change the tail light bulbs without removing the housing! I got mine pushed back out with an airbag (8" suction hose clamped at both ends works great) and now it just looks rippled..... :(

i'm working on the bed right now gonna take our rescue air bag at the fire hall and jam in there and put some air to it and see if i can get close top what you did ..

here's some pics of today's progress. i was up all night last night wire brushing the frame down and slapped a coat of paint on the old bitch this morning after going on a fire standby at 3:15 am for the neighboring county. i didn't take a close up of the rust or painting ,{i think we have all seen that a time or two}

trying to decide on if i wanna put the body lift in since I'm so close now or just spend the money and do a spindle lift before winter sets in. i need to change out the rear end for my 4:10's before i step up to my 31/10.50/15's

well i have the bed primered and back on the truck I'm gonna run it this way for a while because i need the truck for work this week. plans are if i get the time next weekend I'm gonna scuff off the whole truck and shoot it in Grey primer. the dent /wrinkle is still noticeable but no way as bad as it was. i even painted up the rear shocks while i was at it but forgot to put them back on before i lowered the bed on it, oh well get out the cardboard and install them later.
