Exclamation could my danger-ranger be able to...

Hey everyone. well, my parents just bought a nitto bass boat. its pretty quick. we got it up to bout 75 mph and that was a little too quick for me lol, on water speed is different. Just wanting to know if i would be able to tow it around. my dad has the Brand new 2009 Ford F150 STX with the whole Tow Package deal from the dealership. he said if my truck could tow it around then he wouldnt mind me going to the lake with my buds and cruising in it.

(Truck is Picture is my DAD'S not mine...)

Info on my Truck:
1999 Ford Ranger XLT Stepside 3.0 V6 5spd With CAI and True Duals. idk what gears are in it.

Here's some pics.

yea shouldn't have a problem. you might wanna put some explorer springs in back to keep it from squating too bad. but otherwise it will be fine. you should really find what gears are in it. there is either a tag on the diff or the axle code is on the sticker in the driver door. hopefully it has 3.73s or 4.10s

Well . . .dual exhaust doesnt effect towing capability very much

I tow a 16ft boat and fill the bed with tents and camping stuff and a couple big coolers every other weekend, so you should be fine. Air bag suspension helpers or add-a-leaf will really help

14,000 pounds sounds like about 4-5 bass boats...I may be wrong but...

May want to double check the actual weight of the boat/motor/trailer and then add in whatever gear and stuff will be in it.

I would say it's 1,400 pounds and you could pull it with your ranger no problem

That boat looks to be aluminum. If so, there's NO way it weighs 14,000! Maybe in the vicinity of a couple thousand, but even so, that's nothing for your Ranger to pull. Heck, I pulled a 16ft tandem dump trailer with sand in it with my 2.9 and it did it... wasn't happy about it, but it did! I wouldn't pull that much weight on a regular basis, but that bass boat shouldn't be a problem at all.

should be able to, my truck with compression issues and a 2.8 was able to pull a load of around 20 wet haybales (each is around 15lbs dry, so I guess they are around 50lbs soaking wet) in its bed in 2wd across muddy fields without an issue.

k... ya, when he said 14,000 i was like ya... i dont think it is. lol, all i need now is to get a tow hitch... also, would my ranger have the plug in so i could use the trailer brake lights and all that good stuff?
Also, boat is FiberGlass.
James

also, where can i look on round my truck or find out my gear ratio? someone said a tag some were on back axle? well, on the pumpkin there's like a metal piece of bracket like a rectangle. and its got some numbers. but over on the passenger side theirs like a pink piece of paper with numbers on it.

James
