Easily, as said above.

Search on line for dynos. You can plug in displacement, compression, valve duration, exhaust, weight, blah blah blah and it'll give you a rough estimate.

I'm building a 427w and shootin for 400 ft lbs of torque and it seems rather doable.

Find yourway to the mustang forums. You'll find a lot of 5.0 builds

Mustangs & Fast Fords did a junkyard build using a 5.0HO out of a Tbird,Duraspark Dizzy,210cc Pro Comp Alm. heads 70cc exhaust ports with 2.02/1.60 valves flowed at 260 cfm on intake and 177 cfm exhaust (they also came with studs and guide plates) about $600 a set on eaby.
They did mill the heads to 60cc chambers witch pushed the comp. ratio to 9.7:1.Pro Comp Roller Tip Rockers ($55).A Track Max (Trick Flow) 0.499/0.510 lift split,221/225 duration split with 112 lobe centers with factory roller lifters,A pro Comp Parker Funnel Web intake ($125) with a used Holley 750 double pumper.
It made 399 Hp at 6,000 RPM and 363 ft.lbs at 5,200 RPM's on an Engine Dyno.

They spent $1,064!
That was with 0 rebuild on the bottom end of a salvage yard 5.0HO.

I really don't have a problem with EFI but I believe it would add more $$ and time tuning to the build.
What do I know...........I still run carbs on everything but the wifes Jeep....lol.

They're right, 300 is easy to the wheels. EFI would cost a little more but the fuel economy would be a little better. Drive ability would be a little better as well. Plus you could go smog legal if that matters.

X2

We took a stock 89 mustang bottom end and cam with a set of Explorer GT40p heads, Explorer intake and T-body, Mac long tube headers with a C4 trans 2500 converter and 3.73 gears and run 13.20. thats about 330hp at the flywheel. All this was done in a 91 Mustang coupe weighting 3200 with driver.
