so im thinking about doing a lincoln locker on my ranger, it has a 7.5" with 3.73 gears and 30" tires

im looking for better traction on mud and dirt roads, not going for hardcore wheeling or rock crawling since its a daily drive also.
cant afford a locker right now, maybe later ill unpgrade toa 8.8" and then get a locker.

i would like to hear about members that have a welder rear end on their trucks to have some more info about it.
ive been talking with 86 slo-vo, he has his ranger with a welded rear and im grateful on all the help hes given me explaining me and giving his reviw about it.

so if anyone would like to chime in, its welcome:icon_thumby:

yup it is good! I had my 7.5 with 33" and had no problems. I also used a diff cover that has supports for the rear bearing caps as well.

Hello

I welded mine on my 85. I'm going to run it till I kill it then install my other rear end with a locker (Detroit). Before I welded it it sucked in 2wd, I would have to run in 4 hi in any snow. Now its welded I have no problems in 2wd in the snow. I will let you know after tomorrow how it is in the snow. Bunch of us are going to play in the snow. We are going to have Jeeps, full sized Fords and my B2.

Will you stop whining RSH...... I think in all the threads you've asked about this, youve gotten more go for it's than don't do it's, lol.

BTW it snowed balls deep here....... so looks like I'm working instead of welding mine tomorrow.

If you drive on the street it's gonna wear tires out like a sunofabeesh.

And you'll be chirping tires around every single slight little corner.

And if you got a stupid foot like me, you get extra extra sideways around every corner when it's wet out.

Other than that, it's great. Do it.

ohh ok so i must weld the gears with each other, then turn the wheels to weld it all around? sorry if i ask too much but i have never done this lol
i think im gonna weld the gears between themselves and turn the wheels to weld it all around, but i think im not gonna weld it to the carrier

ill see if i can get this done for next week, wish me luck! :icon_welder:
