Lift types, body/Suspension?

Ok i bought a 94 ranger regular cab, stepside, It is 2WD though, i dont know if this is the right forum for this but there was no 2wd lifted forums

my question is that i was told it was lifted 3 inches, I have noticed that it does have 3 inch blocks (rubber i think) between the Frame and body, But then between the rear axle and the leaf i have another 3 inch block, It doesent seem original thought, its tight in its spot but, its crooked.

Could that be another lift?

i couldnt tell by looking at the front I beams and suspension if the front was lifted in the suspension also.

I read the thread about body lift suspension and replacing the shocks. because i need to replace all my shocks.

it sounds like you have a body lift, what does the front suspension look like? does it look modified? go find a similar ranger and look at its front and rear suspension. that should tell you if it has been tweaked.

definately a body lift.

the blocks in the rear are definately a suspension lift. the 4x4 rangers came with a 1 inch lift block in the rear. 2wd rangers did not.

if you could get pictures of the lift (front and rear), we could probably identify it and verify what you have.

Ill get a few pictures so i can show you the front and rear, I actually just noticed that my front drivers mount is blown out, its still there, and bolted to the bottom, it still looks like it connected to a plate at the top, but its free moving as a unit. I think i found the only rust on the truck.

Ill get the pictures tomarrow, maybe tonight if i can get good light ( my camera sucks at night)

really? was it an older STX? AFAIK his 94 wouldnt have one stock. am i wrong?

I think the blocks in the rear are closer to 2", they are pretty common to 4x4 Fords, both my F-150 and my dads F-350 have something similar. STX's had the exact same ones as a normal Ranger since they were only a factory leveling kit in the front. They are a 4x4 only thing though, a 2wd of that vinage shouldn't have one.

Here are the pictures, SORRY for being so big, and my truck is 2WD

well i went to put on new stock shocks in the front, they ended up being about 2 inches short , sooo im now wondering if i have front suspension lift.<BR><BR>

i should have been more specific about the pictures. we are looking for pictures of the radius arms and the brackets that the radius arms attach to the frame with as well as the brackets that the i beams use to attach to the frame.

so what years are those trucks samsonite and du510 and do you know what trim packages included 3 inch lift blocks and what years? my 97 4x4 has only a 1 inch lift block.

That block is bigger than my stocker! (MMG - mine is 94 B4000 4x4). You can see mine HERE
. The stock one is the one in the middle, with the vertical post within it.

But as for up front, shoot up some photos as MMG said:

- The ends of the radius arms (drop brackets, or directly bolted to the frame??)
- Beam ends (Check out the red ones HERE, that is a lift bracket.)

If you can post up either of those, we could let ya know.

1983 to 2007 4x4 were 3" blocks
2008 4x4 are about 1 1/4" ( don't ask why, I don't know)
2wd do not have blocks except the 2000's Edge

That steering angle looks worse than mine... And I have a 4" lift, without a drop pitman arm installed. I don't know if they are supposed to vary between 2wd and 4wd but it looks like he has a suspension lift to me.

It looks like the block was welded to the spring perch. Definitely not stock. I don't know about others' but mine is not just a square, it has a half-round "tube" cast in that comes out of the inner side and contacts the bump stop under full compression. Most aftermarket ones would not have that.

So it looks like you have a 3 inch body lift, and a 2-3 inch suspension lift. Not ideal (travel, handling, alignment) but you can fit a lot bigger tires that stock.
