So here the scoop. needed a cheap car untill i get my new explorer. so i found this on craigslist. its a 89 turbo, 5-speed with 127,000 miles. needed nothing

paid 350.00 for it:icon_surprised: and drove it home:icon_surprised:

first thing on the list, new master, and get rid of the god awfull muffler. the outlets were like 1 1/2 no joke. so implace i got me a magnaflow, but its a little to loud, so im swapping it out for a cherry bomb turbo.

gotta love boost. i figure all done with new tires, ill have 900.00 into it with the price of the car.

i sold my other one for 1200.00 with 258,000 miles on it:icon_surprised:

im hoping to get 2000 for it, but 1500 will be fine with me.

ill post more pictures as i go along.

i think i got a good deal. well see what she brings me when i sell it and get that explorer ive been waiting for.

That is a nice, cheap ride! Very futuristic. I like the wrap-around dash (the side A/C vents in the doors) and the instrument cluster that tilts up and down with the steering wheel. The Mazda MX-6s of that same era are very similar to the Probe, but with more conservative styling. And the next series of MX-6 (came out in '93, I believe) is one of nicest-looking cars of the time.

I remember when those first came out - at the time Ford was saying that the Mustang would be discontinued at some point in the early '90s and the Probe was the "new" Mustang. Thank goodness that didn't come about.
 
yeah, i was born when this car came out lol.

i like it. it was a cheap ride to get me by while i was looking for an explorer.

i loaned my father the money i had towards a new truck, so im getting paid back in about 2-3 weeks, so whe i do, ill sell this and get a 96-01 explorer 4 door.

but i dont mind the mpg of 25 mixed hwy and city while boosting. :headbang:

QUICK car the only problem is about the only place you can find ANY parts is the JY. Just about all the parts have been discontinued. A buddy of mine had one and it ate Transmissions like Crazy. With both of my parents workin at a ford garage we searched For hours tryin to find NIV/ Discontinued parts and ended up leaving empty handed

The probe GT will beat the mustang GT in the 1/4 mile IIRC (cars of the same generation, in stock form)

kinda like the new taraus SHO

I get all my parts from mazda and get a great deal on them. and the yard by me has 4 1st gen probes in there.

ill get engine pics by this weekend. its too dang cold out right now.

i may have some spare motor parts layin round
i know i still have the fart can that got ripped off it
(kept it cuz its carbonfiber :dunno: )
 
i need a blower motor resistor if anyones got one.

but thanks all. yeah it runs great. no lower end noise. its a very tight engine.

and its only got 129,200 on it as of this morning so its still low mileage.

im hoping to flip it in the next couple of weeks.

time to get me a 4.0 or 5.0 96-01 explorer 4dr xlt
 
thanks. i consider it lucky that it paving the way to my new explorer.

without it. id be car-less.

that would suck.
