i have a 99 ford ranger 3.0, with 3 cats and right after the cats i did a 2.5 in straight pipe, im just wondering if i can do the whole flamethrower deal to the truck?

i know that it is unsafe, not legal, blah blah blah but that thing would come in handy when ppl sit on my ass in the middle lane instead of passing me lol :D

my real question is can i just put in a spark plug and be good to go or do i have to get a whole kit thing???

thanks

probably going to need a kit. some even require propane i think

i never understood the whole propane deal, i need to hook up a line to my exhust from like a grill propane tank? of is it a different kind of tank?

The way the old car guys do it is to kill the ignition and light a spark plug at the back of the tail pipe. You would rev the engine and hit a button which grounds the distributor side of the coil and at the same time energizes a model T coil that is connected to the tailpipe spark plug.

I doubt it would work with a (or multiple) catalytic converters upstream. Probably about all you would accomplish is fouling the converters and maybe screwing up the oxygen sensors. I don't the ECU would cooperate very well.

cant do it on a car/ truck with cats on it. reason is, a flame thrower works by cutting the juice to your coil for a few second, alowing raw gas to run through the manifolds, and out the exhaust. you need a seperate coil and a spark plug in the tail pipe. the raw gas going into the exhaust will kill the cats in no time.

im not familiar with the propane one, but i dont think flame thorwes on newer cars are a good idea.

ok well after doing some research, i know that i know that i do NOT want to put an extra propane tank on my truck, the thing is a death trap as it is, but what if i got a fuel injector and put it on the pipe and then a spark plug after that, and find some way to hook up the injector to the fuel supply, would that work???

probably would work but doesnt sound like the safest thing to do i would just use one of those lil camping propane tanks and and grill igitor if you could wire that up to work not sure if the grill igitor would work or not

so ur saying to turn my exhust into a potato gun??

sounds interesting lol how would i wire up the propane tank on to a quick release?

Not too complicated. Attach the propane hose to your exhaust (preferably very far back and hear the exit) and put one of the little pizzo-electric igniters just down stream from the propane outlet. Open the propane valve when desired, push the igniter button and hopefully your truck won't go up in a spectacular ball of blue flame!

do a smoke system. i install them on aircraft and phuck they can cloud an area big time. if there in that spot, hit the button and stop the highway lol

Wouldn't a can of sea-foam do the same thing? Run a vacuum line to the dash with a cap on it. When you feel the need to blanket an unsuspecting interstate or avoid an uncoopertive police official just remove the cap and insert sea-foam. "But officer, I was just cleaning my upper engine..."

just get a 2 step does the same thing i shot 4 foot flames with mine

This does not need to be discussed at TRS.
