not sure if this belongs in this section, but here goes:
when i first got my truck i didnt register it right a way since i had to do some work on it. after a while in my driveway, it ran dry and i put maybe 2 gallons worth of gas in it with a gas can. no problem. started right back up. well, now that its registered and on the road, i went to the gas station to get "filled up" and the gas pump gave me 5 gallons and stopped. wtf? well i figured something was wrong with the gas pump so i drove for a little bit and went to another station. this time it only took 3 gallons. WTF? its a 17 gallon tank, right? i mean, how does something go "wrong" with a gas tank? its a hose that goes to a tank! any ideas? |

try to fill it out of a can. you evap system is probably plugged up which cuts the pump off.
the pump is designed to shut off when it senses a certain pressure coming from the tank.. and if you have a plugged vent in the fill tube it will shut off prematurely |

Sounds to me like the filler hose is smashed shut a tad. We have a truck at work like that. I don't know how many fill ups i did just a lil a time. One day an ole cowboy told me to turn the gas nozzle upside down and try that. Not totally sure why or how, but it works fine like that!
