Default damaged fuel line disconnect

I have a 1999 Ranger 4X4 and in the process of trying to replace the fuel filter, I damaged the quick disconnect and to make matters worse, the fuel line is frayed at the connector and leaking (line from filter to gas tank). This part has been discontinued by Ford and none of the area junkyards seem to have it. H E L P ! ! !

Default

I was able to find a non-flex fuel line out of a 4-cylinder. It's 3/8 on one end and 5/16 on the other as opposed to 3/8 on both ends. I hope it will fit. I will just use the 4-cyl filter and not put E85 in it (like it's available in MD anyway).
