Default Where is PCV valve

Ok, my ranger just hit 100k and has a little rough idle, so I'm changing out the plugs and wires, and pcv valve, however I just want to make sure I pull the right valve. So I thinks it's on the drivers side next to the firewall on the valve cover. I b..ch to get to as it's right under a wireharness.

Is this the right spot...cause of all the researching I've done I've read it is in three different spots..this being one of them.

Also the pcv valve I got from Checker looks different than the Motorcraft symbol that's on the valve that easily just slides out, they sold me the MicroGard, (fram replacement) for like $1.60. Would this valve be ok to use or should I hunt down a motorcraft valve?

It's the V6 3.0 Vulcan I believe....2001 XLT.

Thanks in advance....

Matt
