:dntknw: Hi guys, I have stock springs, and when I pull my trailer, the truck sags low. If I put any weight on the trailer, I have to use my F150. I've been reading the posts here, but I haven't found anything about overload springs, or what different ways to use. My truck is a stock '05 FX4. I thought about a add-a-leaf and a T-bar twist, but I see that there could be alignment issues. So, before I screw up my truck, I thought I'd ask. Thanks. :dntknw:

your overload leaf is alreddy part of your truck in the rear its the big flat thick one a t bar crank in modderation wont do anytthing bad

1. Keep the stuff on the trailer closer to the middle and rear of the trailer if you can.
2. Add-a-leafs would be fine.
3. Just don't turn the torsion bars up more than 1.5" and it will align fine.
4. Auxiliary air bags but that's kinda pricey.

Is there a set procedure for the T-bar twist?

I'm curious as to just how big this trailer is. What are the specs on it?

I've done a 6'x10' trailer with my Ranger and it hardly squished the rear down at all.

I'd look into re-distributing the load as well. About 500-600 lbs on the ball is about all you should need.

You can always get a custom spring pack made... That's what I plan on doing in the future...

Just curious about how much weight you are dealing with?? if your over loaded you will see major sag, I don't know what the exact weight specs for your 2005 is but here is the exact weight specs for my 1996

Max trailer tow is ( 6000 Lbs )

Max weight in the bed is ( 1650 Lbs )

These figures are straight from FORD for my EXACT model / year ranger!!

i kow where you are coming from. i have a 99 ranger 4x4 and if i put my parents 6x10 trailer, it sags good and if there is weight...o lord!

My trailer is a 16 x 7 tamdem axle. I'm told that tamdem axle trailers usually have alot of tongue weight. I don't know the amount, but two guys can't lift the tongue off the ground. It seems pretty heavy. The reason I use my Ranger is it's alot handier, and the bigger truck drinks alot more gas.

I hope thats a typo. 16' x 7' ?!?!?! Thats huge for a Ranger. And tandem axled too. I bet it's rated to carry quite a bit as well.

Seeing this now, I'd suggest the only the most hardcore upgrade and go for flat out helper air bags. I don't think add a leafs of any degree are going to help this thing with any kind of load on it.

Well, OK, that means if I must pull a heavier load, leave the Ranger at home, and use the bigger truck. I was just hoping I could use the Ranger. It doesn't hurt to ask. I know I'll be safer using the bigger truck. Thanks. :icon_cheers:
