My 2006 Ranger is having difficulty recognizing the PATs key. When I am driving, it will intermittently not recognize the key and shut the engine down. I took it to a dealer, and they could not duplicate the problem. Up until now, I have loved Ford products, but this makes my truck too dangerous to drive. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Unless you want the 'security', you can disable the system altogether. Here's the skinny -

Yep if you can shut it off you can just break the key off inside and start it with a screwdriver if you wanted. (not reccomended)

If it can't keep track of the key that won't fix the problem...

Does it do it with more than one key? I would question the receiver thing that checks for the chip in the key.

My Ranger is not old; no one would call her old. She has a bluff bow, lovely lines. She's a fine truck: weatherly, stiff and fast... very fast, if she's well handled. No, she's not old; she's in her prime.
