So today at welding I started making my frame notch pieces. I got one welded up. I have the pieces for the other one already cut out. I just need to grind them down. I used 1/4" plate and the welding was done by me. Please tell me what you think. I know that I need to trim the curved part also. I have no idea when I will put it on as I do not have a welder or torch/plasma cutter.

If you plan on welding that to the frame there may be an issue, ive read here and other places its bad to put a solid bead horizontal on the frame, im sure some one else can elaborate as to why, other then that it looks good

I know you want to avoid vertical welds on the frame as it creates a point of weakness. But I'm sure more knowledgeable people chime in for some more clarification.

ya usually that style of a notch is always bolted rather than welded

good stuff, wasnt sure, looks good tho

Lets see Some pics of this in frame.

wow i like that alot, as long as it still has a good amount of strength, cause now you dont gotta cut up the bed. looks good

Thats the way all notches were before the step notch in the late 80s
