Default I'm wireless

I went in to pay my Alltel to pay my cell phone bill and saw they had wireless broadband for $59.00. I got rid of my phone line and dial up service which totalled $42.00 and basically got the broadband for $17.00 more a month. This kicks ass! I went from a really really really slow connection to 1,750kbps. Not bad for a cellular connection. Probably not as fast as the broadband at the Super8 we stayed at, but still pretty damn fast.

Celluar broadband? I know smart phones are coming with Wi-Fi now a days. Is it the package where you can hook your laptop or computer to you cell-phone and get internet connection. Or is it the one that selles you a wireless router to have that hotspot cell connection (like T-Mobile)?

Now I'm confused.

It sounds like he has a wireless card.

I use my cellphone for wireless when on the road. Use the data cable and the computer uses the phone as a modem. It only comes across as 115Kbps, but for free, it ain't bad.

I have a Kyocera KPC680 ExpressCard plugged in the side of my laptop. It's seperate from my cell phone but on the same bill. The box it came in says 'Get secure connections at speeds up to 2.1 Mbps via Axcess Broadband network'.

There's no limit to how long I can be connected or how much I upload/download. There's no minutes like a cell phone.

I can take it with me whereever I go. Vanessa was driving when we left Alltel and I was surfing the net in the truck on the way home.

I have that same card and same service. been getting better, but it still does not work in western Illinois until you get to the quad cities. If you are in Miami it will try to connect to a sprint tower and will keep dropping the connection. I was in Oklahoma City and get a connection speed that rivals my DSL at home.... it worked in a place called guymon OK when not even my cell phone would. If you make it to the Bay Area it will also try to connect to a sprint tower and sprint will keep booting you off the network......... it has worked most everywhere I have needed to use except western Illinois, Miami, and the Bay Area........ it even worked on top of Elk Mountain on I80 in Wyoming.
