well this is my first write up about something, so i apologize if it isnt that complete
this is for all the people that wants some sound from his intake system, and doesnt want to spend money on aftermarket intakes, or just dont want to remove the stock intake
this is an easy and cheap mod that will give some better intake sound, and some claims a bit more power or improved mpg
i took some pics, sorry if the quality isnt that great, they are cell phone pics, but with this u can get the idea here

this is the intake silencer, or baffle its located in the corner of your intake box, to remove it u have to remove first the rubber squared thing outside the box, to do this remove the 2 plastic pins holding it

the silencer is out, once the rubber is out, just pull the silencer to the outside

to improve the sound, add an K&N reusable filter, the cold air intake system of the truck is still working doing this, one of the issues when just using a MAF adaptor and conic filter, that the engine will suck hot air from the engine bay
hope it helps:icon_thumby:

is this for 95+ or 98+? I have a 96 and my intake doesnt look like that.

it should be the same, any pics?? i meant from 95 to up, did it in my 99 and bro's 00 3.0

this is a good read. thanks for the info. its great for folks that are in the process of a real cool air intake to go this route until funds are available. of course that would not be me; be good for others.

Ah ok that makes sense. So is there a baffle or anything like this that can be done on a 95-97? And i could have sworn i saw a 97 at the junkyard with the square style, which confused me, but maybe it wasnt.

ooo i didnt knew that, maybe a mod can fix the name of the thread then to 98+

haha, i guess this would have been pretty nifty when I was taking mine out to seal up when I installed my homade cowl induction snorkel, i just went to town on it with the grinder and she popped out =D, good writeup! :icon_thumby:

:worthless: do u have any pics of that home made cowl induction??

I'm more confused now than ever.

I'm sorry. but I have a 97.... what can I do?

Those instructions were for a different model than mine even!!! lol

it's okay though I fixed it, that guy used a baked bean steel can, I used an aerosol can for mine.... (i didn't wash it out well, the motor was so strong for about 25 seconds) Oh yeah!!!

Frank
