I have a 2000 Ranger 4X4 3.0 Flex V6 and my oil sensor flutters and twitches. On occasion, I will start it up and it will read fine. Most times the needle rests as low as it will go. When it reads nothing, my check guage light comes on. I have bought a new sensor from my local parts store but cant find where it goes.

like wicked showed, but be careful, that is a common symptom of cam synchros goin out.
Beef

no, a failing cam syncro wont effect oil pressure at all until it completely fails...at which point you will have zero oil pressure and you wont be driving very far.

he has classic symptoms of a faulty oil pressure sender, your on the right track, jorshep.
