Tailgate emblems?

Hi everyone, I've had my 2009 Ranger for about 2 months now, and one thing I'm not crazy about is the GIANT Ford logo in the center of the tailgate. I'm thinking I'd like to remove it. Does anyone know if it's just an adhesive holding it on, or are there locating pins as well (meaning I'll have a couple holes in my tailgate)? If there are holes, I'll be leaving it on. I'd just like to know ahead of time.

Thanks!

There are 2 locating pin holes in the tailgate.

Body filler?
Body filler would only work for a short time before it would start to dimple into the hole. the only way to fill the holes properly would be to weld the holes up.

You find a tailgate from an older Ranger, they are all the same other than emblem placement from 93 and up. If you do this make sure your donor truck is the same bed width as yours (step or standard).

or find the Mazda Tailgates with no holes..

So do the older emblems fit the same pin placement holes? I just bought a 2009 - love the truck, but I feel the same way about the huge logo.

why not just remove it and place too little plastic plugs in the holes. Preferably black. Sure its not a perfect fix but its alot better then the hudge emblem or $$ for a new bumper or paint. You could even paint the plastic pins with your paint stick to blend them in.

Bondo makes a resin jell that works much better than the old stuff. I had all my emblem holes filled in 1999 when the truck was repainted and they still show no signs of cracking etc.... Can't even tell if the truck ever had emblems.

Tailgate question

open up the panel inside the tailgate and shine a flashlight down inside to see if there are pins or not.

hears an idea, leave it on there, make it stock, and represent FORD, come on show some love. lol

It's easy enough for guys with older trucks to say "just bondo it" or "just weld it". It's a whole different story if it's your brand new truck lol.

My tailgate has FORD written clear across it in huge white lettering that looks better than the huge oval IMO.

My last car had holes for a wing on the trunk lid. It was a black car so I took some black screws with some small o-rings to seal it and filled the holes.

I agree, it would be unnerving to bondo/weld a new truck.
