if you're making a significant change in size, it can slightly change the tone.

depends on the tip. fart tips will make a v noise, fart cans will make a rice noise, and 2 1/2 to 3 inch tips etc will change the output volume. on a stock exhaust a walmart or autozoo chrome tip is strictly for looks. the ones that are fat w/ packing in them are what im calling fart tips.

yeah it will but w/ a 4 inch tip your exhaust is sitting in the pipe unless your hammering on it which raises exhaust temps. you need to reduce the size of your tip to 3 inches or less to help lower exhaust temp and keep from messing up your welds and help make the system last longer.

It can change the tone, it will not make it louder. A plain chrome tip is for looks. One that looks like a bowtie just makes you look dumb.

I'm running a flowmaster 40 on my 93 3.0 with duals, i've got tips on both ends, 3 or 3 and a half inch cant remember off the top of my head, but it gave my truck a deeper tone.
